Catching Up on a Few Things

A couple more flowers I have sent to DD#1.

Next on my list of It's A Mini Quilt Along #3 Flying Around In Circles. I used Kona Black and vintage sheets. I love the way it turned out! It looks better in person!

I used those two Moda Candy charm packs to work on my Schnibbles Morsel pattern. You end up making some very fun pincushions. I made 5. I am not sure why but I kept sewing until I ran out. I went to town yesterday and bought a huge bag of crushed walnut shells in the lizard section of a pet store. I will be filling then and finishing them up soon.
This picture shows what I have left of those two packs. I am sure I will make something out of them as well. HA HA I am not wasting that fabric.

One New Project

I know I said that I would not make anything that was not a UFO. BUT...My LQS is starting a new group of projects using 2 1/2 inch strips or "Jelly Rolls". They are not a big fan of Moda, sorry Moda, so that have "jelly rolls" available from other companies. I bought a black and white one from them to support them. I loved the fabrics but the cutting was very bad. Here are a few pictures of what the strips looked like when I opened up the bundle. The top edges are straight on the line at the top. You can see the bottom edge gets too skinny on one part and too fat on another. This is on the same strip and ALL the strips were this way. I  was very sad by this. But I worked ahead anyway.
I added two red strips, I will use this red as the thin inner border, and two red, white, and black strips. The R,W, & B strips are the same fabric that I will be using for the outer border. I added a 2 1/2 inch red square to the end of all the strips except for the two red strips to them I added black squares.
Here is the one picture I snapped at my LQS while I was on my first row, the LONGEST row.
This is what it looked like when I got done that night. It is not trimmed or ironed.
 Freshly finished top!!
This is the fabric I picked for the back. Happy Joann's fabric. I thing it will be great.

Traveling Stash Update

Do you remember the Traveling Stash? I had stopped swapping them due to financial reasons but recently had been thinking about them again. I visited a friends blog today and she had posted how the participation has been kind of dwindling out. I feel bad. For a long time you could hardly get your hands on one. So please join me in getting these boxes of goodies flying around the US again. On my side bar is the link to the blog of the gal taking care of tracking where all of these boxes are. Please take a minute to go visit the blogs offering up a chance to win a box and lets help each other out. You might find something fun and might be able to pass some kind of treasure on to someone else.

A Few Flowers and Let's Bee Together 2011 Quilt Top Finish

How is your day going? Mine is going well. It is cool and rainy outside. Perfect sewing weather.

There have been little hexie flowers driving back and forth from my side of the state to my daughter side. Here are a few flowers my DD#1 sent to me.
These are the ones I sent her.

I sat down today and got my Let's Bee Together 2011 quilt top done. I love how it turned out. I am glad that it came together the way I saw it in my head.

Two brown blocks.
All the pieces laid out on my table.
Finished top!! I love it. So bright and cheery. I new I would need to place the yellow blocks as for from the yellow set in triangles as possible. I think the placement is great!

When we are all finished with our H2H quilts, we were entered into a give away over at Confection of a Fabric Addict. I won a $25.00 gift certificate from Fabric 'n Quilts. Yesterday I received my order. I only ordered it Friday. What great service! I ordered 1 yard cuts. Kona Baby Pink, Bella Pistachio, Kona Peach,
and Kona Baby Blue. Also as an added treat 2 Moda Candy packs of Marmalade by Bonnie and Camille. Love this fabric. I am on my way to play with these little squares right now!!

Maniac Monday

As I was going through my past blog posts it occurred to me that my post are VERY long. Yuck!! I know for me if I have 45 blogs to read then when I come across one with a lot of words I sometimes just skip over them. So in the interest of saving you time I have move my MONDO HUGE UFO list to it's own page. I will make changes there every week and show pictures here.

Back in 2011 on Let's Bee Together I sent out a bunch of fabric for these blocks to be made for me. I used 30's fabrics and Kona White. I received back all but one block. I got the box out (while I had 30's on the brain) and took stock of what I needed. I had to make the block that I was missing but using what little fabric I had left. I did not have enough so I made a block with some solid that matched.
I made two blocks.
 And  two pink blocks.
Here they are all together.
Now how do I set them. I have 16 blocks total. I decided I did not want to make too many more blocks so I decided on making the blocks on point so then I would only need two more blocks. This is what I am thinking:
I bought a brown set of 30's fabric and will be working on the last two blocks and sewing it all together into a top this week.
Here is the fabric I will be using for the set in triangle for the top. I love this buttery yellow, it matches the teddy bear in the brown fabric. The orange fabric is a bonus piece. I did not want it but the lady cut it and I was not paying attention to stop her. Oh well. Then some other fabrics that found their way home with me.

Next I found and dragged this bad boy out, It was from way back in May of 2011. I had finished it but then could not figure out what was wrong with it. I did not want to take the time to figure it out. Well I did the the other day. The bottom row needed to be moved to become the top row.
That was a lot of unpicking. Now it is all resewn back to the way it is supposed to look. Now I can move that down my list.

I am happy to say I am ahead of schedule. I love having this done before the end of the month. I decided to use my 30's fabrics for this pattern and I am glad I did. I love how it turned out!

Dream On/That Quilt Along

Here are a few pictures of what I have gotten done. Finished the binding on my Frosty Flakes.

Got my June Schnibble Dulcinea cut and have started sewing it. I am going with some of my 30's fabrics. Looking at the fat quarters from my last post I decided to play with them. I love them!!

At my LQS we have Saturday Sampler. This is one of the blocks I am working on. They are 16 1/2 inches. They will all be black then different shades of another color. I am not sure why this one did not come together. There are a few close ups bellow that show better how my points did not line up. ARG!!

Another block that I am doing is a paper-pieced called Stained Glass.

We also collected pillowcases this month and here are the two I did. I just used the tutorial from All People Quilt. It is an easy pattern. They are at about 500,000 pillowcases made so maybe you can help out as well!

I finished quilt #2 for It's a Mini Quilt Along. It is called Fire and Rain. So what better then red and blue. It is very patriotic.

I love to see all the little bits cut off.

I thought you might like to see my Granddaughter. She turned 1 month old on the 15th. I LOVE HER!! She has brought so much joy and happiness to me!!

Our hands together!!

Last but not least. Do you remember the "olden" days of Chain Letters? Well I received one from a friend. Well not just one but two, the same letter from two different ladies. Man, these things never work for me. But I am game. I have them all ready to mail out. But who to send them too? I would love to send them to anybody out there that would like one. Let me know in the comments if you would like one and I will email you to get your address. I have to mail out 8 letters. Come one have a go at it!!
