Hands2Help 2018

This year for the Hands2Help Challenge, I decided to make four baby quilts. I actually made one and took three other tops that I have made previously, quilted and bond them. They were just sitting in a box not giving anyone any joy. It was time for them to come out and make some little child happier.

The first top, Full House, I made it as part of Another Year of Schnibbles for January 2012. Wow, that is so sad, it has been in a box for over six years!!

Another quilt top from Another Year of Schnibbles, Hat Trick. I love this one, nothing like a rainbow!!

And one more from Another Year of Schnibbles, Domino. It makes me happy to free these beauties from the box and have them go make someone smile!!

The next one, I made specifically for H2H. I won this little bundle at my Quilt Group. I knew it was perfect for a little girl.

I added this label to each of the quilts. I am trying hard to remember to add labels.

Maniac Monday 3~Hexies and a Schnibbles

I am feeling better and feel like getting back to the real world. I hope it lasts. On my last blood work my liver functions had come back down. The doctor feels that with taking this new medication that my liver is going to run at a "new" normal. So we are just going to stay were we are on meds and see how long this good ride lasts. I have been doing some sewing but mostly I am just enjoying time with my oldest daughter while she is home from collage. She has decided to stay home this next semester and do her classes on line so I am hoping that I can get back to my sewing room on a more regular bases now that she will be busy with school work. HA HA

These are the flowers I got from my partner for March. They are so pretty. She also sent  a cool tiny little hexie key fob. It is perfect. You can see how tiny it is.

I have been working on one of my Schnibble quilts. My daughter had made a back for one of her quilts, well a wall hanging with no batting, and when she put them together you could see the print from the front. So I took that back, matched it to a Schnibble and started quilting it. I ran out of thread so I had to stop but now I have what I need and I can finish it today.

Maniac Monday

I had a very good week. Got some sewing done. I went to my sister-in-laws house on Tuesday and spent sometime with her sewing. My DD#1 came home for the weekend from college and we spent most of Friday sewing. Saturday DD#1 and DD#2 and I went to a quilt show and had a good time there.

I have finished with the Red, White, and Black Strip Quilt. It is all bound and washed. I love the way it turned out. My daughter has decided she does not want it until she graduates from High School in May. So it is in a Curio Cabinet that I got from my husbands family.
Here is the back. Yes I will get a label on it when I give it to her. HA HA

I am working on a few UFO's. There are three matching tiny baby quilts that I am making for my Granddaughter. This is the smallest one. I am playing around with some free motion quilting.
The colors are all weird in this one but the quilting is finished. Now I just need to do the binding and quilt the other two. Do you think and dark purple would look ok as a binding?

Here is my Schnibble for September. I did it in fall colors with a fun fall background. I am going to  finish this one and put it on my kitchen table.

I hope you all have been productive in at least a small area of your lives.

I am happy to say I am ahead of schedule. I love having this done before the end of the month. I decided to use my 30's fabrics for this pattern and I am glad I did. I love how it turned out!

Here are a few pictures of what I have gotten done. Finished the binding on my Frosty Flakes.

Got my June Schnibble Dulcinea cut and have started sewing it. I am going with some of my 30's fabrics. Looking at the fat quarters from my last post I decided to play with them. I love them!!

At my LQS we have Saturday Sampler. This is one of the blocks I am working on. They are 16 1/2 inches. They will all be black then different shades of another color. I am not sure why this one did not come together. There are a few close ups bellow that show better how my points did not line up. ARG!!

Another block that I am doing is a paper-pieced called Stained Glass.

We also collected pillowcases this month and here are the two I did. I just used the tutorial from All People Quilt. It is an easy pattern. They are at about 500,000 pillowcases made so maybe you can help out as well!

I finished quilt #2 for It's a Mini Quilt Along. It is called Fire and Rain. So what better then red and blue. It is very patriotic.

I love to see all the little bits cut off.

I thought you might like to see my Granddaughter. She turned 1 month old on the 15th. I LOVE HER!! She has brought so much joy and happiness to me!!

Our hands together!!

Last but not least. Do you remember the "olden" days of Chain Letters? Well I received one from a friend. Well not just one but two, the same letter from two different ladies. Man, these things never work for me. But I am game. I have them all ready to mail out. But who to send them too? I would love to send them to anybody out there that would like one. Let me know in the comments if you would like one and I will email you to get your address. I have to mail out 8 letters. Come one have a go at it!!

A Long Miscellaneous Post

Do you remember how I was saying that my machine was acting funny and I could not figure it out. Well I do believe I found the problem. Look at these two pictures of the placement of my needle. See how close it it to the back of the foot. I have had this problem for a long time. It makes my thread break and sometimes my needle breaks because it gets stuck on the foot as I am sewing. Boy do things explode when that happens.
Well I got mad today because I broke three of the last four needles I had. I opened the side of the machine and moved things around and looked things over really good. I am not a sewing machine repair person but I can get mad enough to fix things myself once in a while. I found the screw that controls where the tip of the needle is in space and cranked the puppy down until I fixed it. Not knowing if I had just fixed it or totally messed it up I moved cautiously into sewing. She purrs like a kitten now. The needle is moved away from the back. I am so happy!! I hope you can see that the needle is now a safe distance from the back of the foot.

These next four pictures are half finished Schnibbles patterns I found. I have one top finished but I messed it up so I need to go in and fix it. But it is in the bottom of a tote and I did not feel like digging it out today. Maybe Monday. There are four more Schnibble projects I did not even start.

This is a picture of a group of blocks for my area Shop Hop 2013. I have seven blocks I think. It will be a fall quilt top when finished. I will need to find a few blocks to round out to 12 then get it all worked together.

Clear back at the beginning of May Green Fairy Quilts had a giveaway. I WON!! I won a fat quarter bundle of Posh Pumpkins by Sandy Gervais for Moda! I love it. Fall, orange, Halloween, pumpkins!! I tell you it was a match made in the pumpkin patch!!

Last year over at Making Ends Meet April had a Quilt Along that I was invited to join, Hello Sun. I love it. I have had these blocks done for a while but never took pictures of them. So in no specific order the last four blocks.

When I was done with all the blocks I took the rest of the yellow strips I had and made them into cute 3 1/2 inch squares. The idea was to use them in making the Hello Sun quilt. But now that I am doing Hello Moon, also at Making Ends Meet, I think I am going to wait. I might want to put all 24 blocks into the same quilt.

Here are the first four blocks of Hello Moon in no particular order. I have not done any of the stitching yet.
I had some gift money that I used to buy me some goodies. I can't wait to play with them.
happy-go-lucky by Bonnie and Camille for Moda
and Mod-Century by Jenn Sky for Moda.

One last thing. I have been working on this little beauty for about a month now. I got the pattern from a friend and promptly went and bought fabric for it. Now that I have my sewing room I can see the kitchen table. Here are a few pictures of it's progress. I have the binding sewn on and I hope to finish it tonight or in the morning. I did not put any batting in it because I want it to be as flat as it can be.

Sorry for the long post. Have a wonderful Sunday!!
