Posh Pumpkins Around the World

Way back in May of 2013, Green Fairy Quilts was giving away a fat quarter bundle of Posh Pumpkins. And I won!!

Like I said before, orange is my favorite color. I try not to drool over fabric, but this line is to drool for. After I received it, it sat on a shelf until I decided what I was going to make with it.

I finally figured it out, I wanted my PQA friends to help me. Last year we were making blocks for each other, so I thought this would be the perfect time to cut that bundle into little pieces. I remembered the quilt everybody was making a while back and I knew this was the right pattern. I found Bonnie Hunter's pattern, cut up the fabric, and passed it all out. I received back 25 blocks. I love them. They are just perfect. All of those wonderful fall colors I love. I had a lot of fun with the layout, but decided on this design.

Now that all of the blocks are together, I know I did the right thing with this gift. The quilt measures 48 x 72, not a bad size!

Then one of my sweet PQA friends gifted me two charm packs of Posh Pumpkins and a stack of similar fabrics. Now I can make more blocks!!

I am so excited. I can't wait to finish this quilt!

Manic Monday and Traveling Stash Winner

I have not gotten anything done this last little bit. I have been focusing on family. We had a great 4th of July. Went to three different events on the 4th. Wow so much was going on.

Below is my Grandfather holding my Granddaughter with her mommy's help. What a sweet moment. I love generational pictures like that.
We had our own little firework display.

Then on the 9th my Sister-in-law had her baby. She is the little sister to the little boy I was watching this last school year. I will not have to watch them this fall. Their mom has decided to take some time off.
Here is my husband holding the new addition to our family while also holding our Granddaughter. The new is as big as the two month old.

Now on to other news. I had only two people enter the drawing for the Traveling Stash give away. It was Susan from suemacseeds. As soon as I get her address I will be going to the mail box to mail off all four boxes. The Traveling Stash box. Then the three boxes for my Anniversary give away. I hope you ladies enjoy your goodies.

Over at Quilting Gallery Michele is hosting a Coaster Swap. I have joined up. These are so cute.

Over at Sew We Quilt I have joined up to be a part on a new blog hop. Be a Hexie Queen. I can't wait to get start on my project.

As for me my day will be about finishing the quilting on my strip quilt. Then just resting and laundry. I hope your day is filled with blessings.

Sorry it has taken me SO long to get back to this give away. I had way to much fun over the holidays and just have not been back into my sewing room until today. Sorry for the yucky picture below but I think you get the idea of who won. Speaking of winning because I feel bad I have added two extra winners to the mix. The two winners will receive a smaller box of goodies but still fun stuff. I will be emailing the winners after I post this. Congratulations and thank you for every body that stops by!!

Happy 3 Year Anniversary!!

I have been blogging for 3 years and one day. HA HA I did not post yesterday so that makes it plus one extra day. I did not think that blogging would be something that I would stick with. When I started I thought that no one would want to read what I had to say. I might get a few followers but I would be mostly me just talking to myself. All I can say is thank you to those of you who have become my friends. Thank you to those that stop by to see what I am up to. I will be giving away 4 yards, yes 4 yards of fabric. It is a collection of vintage sheets. I am giving away 2 Fat Quarters each of  8 different prints. I love vintage sheets. I hope that you do to. I might even add extras into the box to sweeten the pot. Thank you again for being here for me for these last three years. It has been a blessing in my life. Here is to many more fun quilting years!!

Rules of the give away:
1. This give away is open to followers only. If you are a follower add a comment letting me know that you are and how you are following me. If you are not a follower please become one.
2. For an extra chance tell me what your favorite summertime recipe or food is. Mine is watermelon. I LOVE watermelon. But I also like Oriental Chicken Salad. Good stuff.

I will keep the give away open until July 5th. I hope you all have a great 4th of July holiday. Be safe!!

A Long Miscellaneous Post

Do you remember how I was saying that my machine was acting funny and I could not figure it out. Well I do believe I found the problem. Look at these two pictures of the placement of my needle. See how close it it to the back of the foot. I have had this problem for a long time. It makes my thread break and sometimes my needle breaks because it gets stuck on the foot as I am sewing. Boy do things explode when that happens.
Well I got mad today because I broke three of the last four needles I had. I opened the side of the machine and moved things around and looked things over really good. I am not a sewing machine repair person but I can get mad enough to fix things myself once in a while. I found the screw that controls where the tip of the needle is in space and cranked the puppy down until I fixed it. Not knowing if I had just fixed it or totally messed it up I moved cautiously into sewing. She purrs like a kitten now. The needle is moved away from the back. I am so happy!! I hope you can see that the needle is now a safe distance from the back of the foot.

These next four pictures are half finished Schnibbles patterns I found. I have one top finished but I messed it up so I need to go in and fix it. But it is in the bottom of a tote and I did not feel like digging it out today. Maybe Monday. There are four more Schnibble projects I did not even start.

This is a picture of a group of blocks for my area Shop Hop 2013. I have seven blocks I think. It will be a fall quilt top when finished. I will need to find a few blocks to round out to 12 then get it all worked together.

Clear back at the beginning of May Green Fairy Quilts had a giveaway. I WON!! I won a fat quarter bundle of Posh Pumpkins by Sandy Gervais for Moda! I love it. Fall, orange, Halloween, pumpkins!! I tell you it was a match made in the pumpkin patch!!

Last year over at Making Ends Meet April had a Quilt Along that I was invited to join, Hello Sun. I love it. I have had these blocks done for a while but never took pictures of them. So in no specific order the last four blocks.

When I was done with all the blocks I took the rest of the yellow strips I had and made them into cute 3 1/2 inch squares. The idea was to use them in making the Hello Sun quilt. But now that I am doing Hello Moon, also at Making Ends Meet, I think I am going to wait. I might want to put all 24 blocks into the same quilt.

Here are the first four blocks of Hello Moon in no particular order. I have not done any of the stitching yet.
I had some gift money that I used to buy me some goodies. I can't wait to play with them.
happy-go-lucky by Bonnie and Camille for Moda
and Mod-Century by Jenn Sky for Moda.

One last thing. I have been working on this little beauty for about a month now. I got the pattern from a friend and promptly went and bought fabric for it. Now that I have my sewing room I can see the kitchen table. Here are a few pictures of it's progress. I have the binding sewn on and I hope to finish it tonight or in the morning. I did not put any batting in it because I want it to be as flat as it can be.

Sorry for the long post. Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Maniac Monday

This block is for on of my May partners for Block Swap Adventures. It is a COOL block. I can see a whole 4th of July quilt made this way.

These two blocks are from my June partner in the same swap. They are so much brighter in person.
This is a smaller extra one that she sent me!

Here is block 11 of 2011 Designer Mystery BOM. So pretty. When I finished and measured it it was too small. I checked and my 1/4 seam was off. I can still can make it work and so that makes me so happy.

I received my first block for this next year. I can't wait to do this one but I am going to finish block 12 first. But look, a little pack of 2 1/2 inch squares of Vintage Modern. LOVE IT!!!

These are my June hexies. I love them. Thank you!

And now for the winner of my give away...

Congratulations Clare. I will be mailing it off to you on Wednesday. Please send me your snail mail address. Right now I can not send out emails so as soon as I can I will mail all of you that stopped by.

I will add my list of things to finish in a different post.
