15 in '14 Follow Up

At the beginning of 2014 I made plans,, with no pressure, to finish some UFO's. I decided that I wanted to at least move each project to the next step. Some I did great on, but I also know how life is and with starting school I hit a road block. I still feel like I made some headway and that makes me happy. Here is a follow up post on these 15 projects.

2010 Designer  Mystery BOM
I was able to get all these blocks into a top. I love it. I added this to my every growing box of tops. Man, one day I will have to make them all into quilts.

Birdie Stitches
This one also made it into a quilt top. I love the very thin sashing. It helps separate all the colors in the edges of the blocks.

Black and White Garden
I was able to finish each of the blocks for this quilt. I was able to get all of the stitching done on all of the flowers. Now I just need to all of the blocks sown into a top.

Double Delight
I was able to get all of these pieces made into blocks then into a quilt. I have since added a border and started quilting it. I hit a design snag with the quilting so until I feel like I want to tackle it again it is in a drawer.

Quilts for Kids Their Kit
I was able to finish this one. I loved the way it turned out. So cute!!
Quilts for Kids My Kit
This one also turned out so cute. I did the binding differently and the bottom curled up a bit. I did not know about it until it was washed. Darn!

Round and Round Quilt Along
I was able to get a few rounds sown on this top. Once I get this last round on I think it is just two rows added to the top and bottom to make it rectangular. It reminds me of Easter.

I made no progress on the following projects. That is ok!! I accomplished a lot last year even if it did not show in my 15 in '14 plans. Each of these projects will one day be finished but until then I will not stress over them.

15 for '14~Quilts for Kids

In all of the confusion of not blogging. I failed to post about my two Quilts for Kids quilts that I had completed and mailed off. This on is the one I made out of my own fabric. I think it is so cute!!

This is the fabric they sent to me. The bugs are so fun to look at.

These make quilt 5 and 6 that I have made for them. I don't think I am going to do any more for a while. I have so many other UFO's of my own to finish. But some day I will make more.

Not WiP Wednesday~Double Delight Quilt Along

Freshly Pieced is not having WiP Wednesday today because she is still on vacation. Good for her. But I worked hard today so I thought I would do it myself. I had so much fun over the last few day working on one of 15 for '14. My Double Delight Quilt Along by Bonnie Hunter. I have kept track of my progress on my UFO's here on this page. I started yesterday trimming all of the pieces into 3 1/2 inch squares. So many trimmings. I am not a football fan but these look like pom-poms. The parts that look blue are really a dark purple. I could not get the colors right on my computer. So just imagine purple, orange, and white. I KNOW!! What was I thinking. Those colors are so weird.
After some of the trimming was done I wanted to see what the blocks were going to look like. Interesting colors. The four corner squares on point are blue and white flowers with yellow centers.
Here is some of the piecing being done today. When I stopped I had but the last seam on all of these "9 patches" done. There are 30 blocks total of this set. Each block has 49 pieces. So that is 1,470 just in those blocks. Tomorrow I will finish sewing them up and start working on the other blocks. I will be only making 20 of them. But each of them have 49 pieces in them as well, for a total of 980. WOW!! After I get the Center together I get to add 22 setting corner pieces. That is a total of  2,472 pieces. Not counting borders and corner stones. CAARAZY!! What was I thinking taking on this quilt. It will be beautiful.

Ha Ha after all that math I feel silly saying I also got two more pet beds made. They will be dropped off on Friday.

Maniac Monday 1~ 2014

So I have finally made it back into my sewing room. It has taken a while. My health has been a little better. I am fighting a new cold now. I had more blood work done on Friday and I will know soon what the next step will be. If my liver functions are better, then I will not have to have a liver biopsy and I might be able to start up some RA medication. Oh yeah I forgot. I am off all my RA meds and it is killing me!! I hurt so bad. This too shall pass. So if my liver functions are still bad then no RA meds and we will do the biopsy to see what is going on.
I have been working on a few things. On Wednesday I posted that I was working on one of my UFO's. It is part of my 2014 Plans~15 for '14. I had decided I was not putting myself under any pressure to make them finished projects, but at least to get them to the next stage. We'll I have a completed top now of my Birdie Stitches by Little Miss Shabby.
I also made a cute little thread catcher.
Then while I was in the sewing room and had done a good job at moving a UFO to the next step I took out a UFO that was not on my list. I had saved all the fabric from my 2012 Designer Mystery BOM. I had been cutting it up to make a different quilt then the one the fabric was ment for. I found this very cute quilt called On The Road To Spring by I Have To Say. So I finished cutting all the pieces and spent the afternoon mindlessly chain stitching. I am not sure when I will get back to it but at least this moved a little too!
I hope everybody is doing ok with the crazy weather the country is having. Last weekend we had 5 inches of snow on the ground. No it has all melted off and has rained so much there is talk of flooding. CRAZY!!

2014 Plans~15 in '14

I have seen a bunch of UFO parties. I have thought a lot about joining one. I have decided that I am just going to do this on my own. I don't want to feel obligated to sew anything. I have made a list of 15 UFO's that I want to at least get to the next stage or all the way finished.

2010 Designer  Mystery BOM
I have cut some border fabric. I have some of the blocks sewn together. I had plans of making 4 table runners but never finished them. I will have to see what shape I left it in. I would like to make this back into  a quilt and have it ready to use by Christmas at the end of the year.
