15 in '14 Follow Up

At the beginning of 2014 I made plans,, with no pressure, to finish some UFO's. I decided that I wanted to at least move each project to the next step. Some I did great on, but I also know how life is and with starting school I hit a road block. I still feel like I made some headway and that makes me happy. Here is a follow up post on these 15 projects.

2010 Designer  Mystery BOM
I was able to get all these blocks into a top. I love it. I added this to my every growing box of tops. Man, one day I will have to make them all into quilts.

Birdie Stitches
This one also made it into a quilt top. I love the very thin sashing. It helps separate all the colors in the edges of the blocks.

Black and White Garden
I was able to finish each of the blocks for this quilt. I was able to get all of the stitching done on all of the flowers. Now I just need to all of the blocks sown into a top.

Double Delight
I was able to get all of these pieces made into blocks then into a quilt. I have since added a border and started quilting it. I hit a design snag with the quilting so until I feel like I want to tackle it again it is in a drawer.

Quilts for Kids Their Kit
I was able to finish this one. I loved the way it turned out. So cute!!
Quilts for Kids My Kit
This one also turned out so cute. I did the binding differently and the bottom curled up a bit. I did not know about it until it was washed. Darn!

Round and Round Quilt Along
I was able to get a few rounds sown on this top. Once I get this last round on I think it is just two rows added to the top and bottom to make it rectangular. It reminds me of Easter.

I made no progress on the following projects. That is ok!! I accomplished a lot last year even if it did not show in my 15 in '14 plans. Each of these projects will one day be finished but until then I will not stress over them.

15 for '14~Quilts for Kids

In all of the confusion of not blogging. I failed to post about my two Quilts for Kids quilts that I had completed and mailed off. This on is the one I made out of my own fabric. I think it is so cute!!

This is the fabric they sent to me. The bugs are so fun to look at.

These make quilt 5 and 6 that I have made for them. I don't think I am going to do any more for a while. I have so many other UFO's of my own to finish. But some day I will make more.

Quilts for Kids and Online Window Shopping

What is happening...
I had a good day. Got the bathroom cleaned, did laundry, and finished the two quilts for Quilts for Kids. The weather was nice and the sun was out (for a little while). Did a bunch of window shopping on the computer. I love looking at different shops and wishing I had more money. LOL!

What I accomplished...
Like I said above I finished with the binding on both of my Quilts for Kids quilts. I love both of them. I made a boy quilt from their kit, it has a camping theme. Then I made a girl quilt with my own fabrics. I will have them off in the mail tomorrow.

Their fabric.

If you look about in the middle, you can see a BIG WHITE THREAD!! How funny is that!
 These are my fabrics.

I even finished these three Hexie flowers.

Sewing thought...
Do you have a favorite online shop to buy fabric from? I like Green Fairy Quilts, Quilt Taffy, Fat Quarter Shop, and Erica's Craft and Sewing Center. I have a few more but these are the ones that I have really liked. If you have any please share.

Sewing Goals...
I would like to get my two swap blocks done tomorrow. I already know what I am making so I want to get them done. I would like to see if I have enough of one fabric to make borders for my 12 Days of Christmas table runners. If I need to order more then I can do it while I have some money. I would like to also get started on my hexies for my flower swap.

PS I messed up on cutting my fabric for the H2H Challenge. I need to figure out what I am going to do about that. Darn I hate that.

The Weekend and NAG in the Brain Space

What is happening...
We had a great weekend. School is over and it is so nice to get graduation out of the way. My son's girlfriend graduated High School. Now they are both over 18 and out of school. Kind of a scary thing, but exciting at the same time. On Sunday we went on a 200 mile drive to were my family was camping and spent the day with them. It was windy and cool but it was great. We all came home with sun and wind burns.

Here is part of what our drive was like. Such beautiful clouds.

Here is the lake. It is CJ Strike Reservoir.

More clouds over the lake.

We say this on the way home. It was so bright and wonderful!

What I accomplished...
Because of the weekend I did not do any sewing. Today I finished the borders and quilted both of my Quilt for Kids quilts. They have been a nag in my brain. I have had them WAY to long. I feel bad but I have let myself off the hook on them. They will get done and mailed off then I will not ask for more until I know that my plate is cleaner and I can finish them right away. I will post pictures tomorrow. By the time I was done tonight it was to dark.
Sewing thought...Do you have "nag in the brain" projects. Things you know you need to finish but just don't. Maybe it is a project that you started and then put away. Maybe it is something you intended on finishing for Christmas but it is June the next year. Maybe this summer (or winter where ever you may be) you could finish that NAG and get it out of your brain space. I know that when these quilts are done I will be happier.
Sewing Goals...
I want to finish the Quilt for Kids quilts and get them off into the mail. I will see where I go from there. I might start on my Bee blocks. Have a great evening!!

One top done and two finishes . . .

I got the top done today. I love it. As I was putting it together some of the blocks got switched. I don't care. I love the colors and each different block. This was from a quilt along from Amy's Creative Side. Now on to finish my other quilt along that I started and did not finish over at crazy mom quilts. I have all the pieces cut and the strips sewn together and cut again into sets. Now just to start assembling the quilt. I also started a new quilt along over at Oh, Fransson! I have started cutting out my 2" squares, Busy busy busy!

Here are my two finishes. These are the quilts I am sending to Quilts for Kids. The top quilt is the kit they sent me and the bottom one is a kit my daughter picked out. The bottom one was my first try at stippling. The top one was my third try. I feel I did a lot better. Hugs to the kids that will be getting these blakets. We are praying for you.

Quilts for kids

I have been working on my two quilt for Quilts for Kids. In the paper work they sent they asked that if you could to make a second quilt and send it back with theirs. My daughter picked out the material. Pink, purple with pink and purple butterflies on black. I have the tops done.
Here is the one they sent.

After the borders.

This one is the one I paid for.

I am so excited.

I am not sure now which blog I was at but I saw a post about www.quiltforkids.com I went and checked it out and I loved the idea. Kind of like Project Linus but they supply the fabric. I signed up and got the package today. I love it. I have started on it and I hope to have the top finished tomorrow. I hope you have fun looking at the material.

They even sent a label that I get to sign. It makes my happy to know that all my love and hugs will go to some child that needs them right now.
Have a good night.
