H2H Quilts Done

This is my third year of participating in this Challenge. I love being able to help out other with a hug in the form of a quilt. When I started quilting I new I would make more blankets then my families needs so I new I had to find was to give them away. This group is perfect. It is so cool to me to think that of the six quilts I have donated through this challenge three of them are going to cancer patients, and three of them are going to children! It makes me feel so good. I hope that who ever gets them will love them. I start this years challenge with quilt tops that I had already made. The first one is from Happy Quilting Quilt Along back in 2011.

This is the beginning block. Then a few cuts, some added bits, and resewing I ended with my top.
Here is the top all quilted and waiting for the binding.
Here it is all finished. I love it. So cheerful!

The next quilt is from 2010. It is as
also another quilt along. It is my first pieced quilt top. it is from Amy's Creative Side Simple Sample Quilt Along. It is so funny because her last post talks about getting her sampler finished. Go read about it here.

Here are a couple of the blocks.
Here is all the quilting done and now it is waiting it's turn for binding.
Here it is all finished. Thank you to DD#2 for being the quilt holder, LOL!!
(I got most of the stains out but if you look in the center of the red and white you will see a little pink in there.)

Thank you Sarah for your help and your willingness to organize this for everybody!!

H2H Link Up

I missed the Link Up party last Sunday so before this week is totally gone I am taking care of it now. I have decided that in the spirit of starting no new projects I am going to be using quilt tops that I have already made that just need to be made into quilts. I would rather have these quilts loved by someone then sitting unfinished in my drawer.

The first one I will use is the very first quilt top I made after finding blogger. It is Simple Sampler Quilt Along by Amy's Creative Side. It was a great way for me to learn how to piece. She did a very nice tutorial on all the blocks. I had not done any piecing up to that point that was not paper piecing. The blocks started out easy and then got harder as we went along. It is bright and colorful and I am sure someone will love it.

The next one is The Happy Quilting Quilt Along by Melissa Corry. It was her very first Quilt Along and it was so fun and easy. I loved the whole process. It is a great tutorial with great pictures. I love this quilt. I love the colors and the way the blocks look. I hope that it will make someones day.

Now for my treat. I love these cookies. The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies. My daughter makes these a lot. I made them for my Daughter-in-laws baby shower. They were a hit. One batch made over 6 dozen cookie. We do not set the dough in the fridge we use a cookie scooper and then divide that dough ball in half. Then we press the dough into plain or colored sugar. Bake per directions. You will then have a sweet great cookie.

Thank you again to Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for running this for us. I can't wait to see the end quilts.

Some of the things I have been doing...

I have a friend that asked if I would be able to quilt a quilt that she had made for a friend of hers. She brought over this wonderful quilt. I am still learning how to quilt and I told her that but she was sure I would do a good job. I straight line quilted part of it and then FMQ in the horse squares. It turned out great. I loved it. She paid me $30.00. I was so excited!! I have not heard if the friend that received it liked it. I'm sure she did.

One of the UFO's I have pulled out of my closet is Twice As Nice: Eleanor Burns Signature Quilt. It uses one jelly roll plus yardage for borders, sashing, and backing. I made my own jelly roll with fabrics from Joann's. I had all of the blocks for all three quilts finished when I put it away. This is what they looked like as I was getting them out and figuring out my next steps. I just bought some fabric for borders so that is the next step. I will add some pictures of the tops when I put them together when I finish that step.

This following quilt is another UFO. It was in the same box as the quilts above. It is a quilt along that
crazy mom quilts did back in May 2010. Round and Round Quilt Along. Again it is fabric from Joann's. I had all of the fabric cut including the sashing pieces. I even had all the colored squares paired up with a white and sewn together.
Here is the center. That was the easiest part. It gets harder and harder with each round.
I love how this is looking. So spring like. It looks like colored eggs in the snow. At this point I have three more rounds to go then two rows across the top and bottom. This one is going to be a lot of work!

My PQA group that I run gives each person with a birthday a fat quarter. Here is my pile. I love each one of them. So many fun fabrics.

I was able to buy some fabric for a few projects so I will be very busy this next week. The kids are out for Spring Break all of this next week so I will have no little guy to watch so that means a lot of quality time quilting. Plus the little guys mom quilts and she is off this next week also so we are planning on two quilting days together. Here is a newer picture of him. He has grown up so much!!

Light Bulb and Block-a-palooza Block #2

I am an older Brother sewing machine. I have been using it for about 10 years. It is a great machine. Nothing fancy. My light bulb burned out today. I need to find a replacement. Does anybody use a different bulb then the one you can buy at Joann's for $2.50? I would like to find a bright white light not the dim yellow light I had. Any help would be great!!

Also I got my second block done from Block-a-Palooza over at Quilt Dad.

This was my fortune after lunch today with my honey. I am not sure what it is trying to say. LOL

Block-a-Palooza Block #1

I am doing the Block-a-Palooza Quilt Along. I am so excited. I am a few weeks behind, but I don't care. I am not going to beat myself up over it. I am just going to ENJOY the process. I AM going to finish this quilt along. I had picked out my fabric a while ago. It is Hemming House that I won back in October from Sabrina Diehl at Doodle Quilts.

This morning I ironed, cut, and sewed my first block. <3I LOVE IT!<3 I was not sure if I would like this fabric in this quilt, I wanted to do it in Sunkissed like most others but there was just now way. My idea is to use what you have you might be surprised. I will be working on Block 2 later today. Have a good day everyone!
