Some of the things I have been doing...

I have a friend that asked if I would be able to quilt a quilt that she had made for a friend of hers. She brought over this wonderful quilt. I am still learning how to quilt and I told her that but she was sure I would do a good job. I straight line quilted part of it and then FMQ in the horse squares. It turned out great. I loved it. She paid me $30.00. I was so excited!! I have not heard if the friend that received it liked it. I'm sure she did.

One of the UFO's I have pulled out of my closet is Twice As Nice: Eleanor Burns Signature Quilt. It uses one jelly roll plus yardage for borders, sashing, and backing. I made my own jelly roll with fabrics from Joann's. I had all of the blocks for all three quilts finished when I put it away. This is what they looked like as I was getting them out and figuring out my next steps. I just bought some fabric for borders so that is the next step. I will add some pictures of the tops when I put them together when I finish that step.

This following quilt is another UFO. It was in the same box as the quilts above. It is a quilt along that
crazy mom quilts did back in May 2010. Round and Round Quilt Along. Again it is fabric from Joann's. I had all of the fabric cut including the sashing pieces. I even had all the colored squares paired up with a white and sewn together.
Here is the center. That was the easiest part. It gets harder and harder with each round.
I love how this is looking. So spring like. It looks like colored eggs in the snow. At this point I have three more rounds to go then two rows across the top and bottom. This one is going to be a lot of work!

My PQA group that I run gives each person with a birthday a fat quarter. Here is my pile. I love each one of them. So many fun fabrics.

I was able to buy some fabric for a few projects so I will be very busy this next week. The kids are out for Spring Break all of this next week so I will have no little guy to watch so that means a lot of quality time quilting. Plus the little guys mom quilts and she is off this next week also so we are planning on two quilting days together. Here is a newer picture of him. He has grown up so much!!

Maniac Monday

I have not done much for two weeks. The first week after taking DD#1 to college was hard. The second week was better. I feel much better now. I feel like I can get a lot done today.

Here are months May and July of my Saturday Sampler Stitcheries I have been doing. They are so fun. The pattern says to make them into little pillows. I am not sure If that is what I am going to do are make them into a little quilt.

These two blocks are from my partner from Block Swap Adventure. They are both so great. I sweet Fall one and then a very pretty bright one. Thank you!!

I made two of these blocks for my Let's Bee Together partner. They are so pretty. I love that fabric.

Before my DD#1 left for college we went to a near by river and took some family pictures. Here is DS and his wife. They have been married for over 1 year now.
Here is my husband, DD#1, DD#2 and me.
Here is a fun picture of me and Jayden, the little guy I am watching for my brother and sister-in-law. He is a sweety!!

Last week was Homecoming Week in my small town. We go TDed. I hate that!! Here is our front yard. You know I don't mind all the paper on the ground, it is so much easier to clean up then the stuff in the tree. She that piece there in that tree, my husband can't even reach it. Now we get to watch it fall apart all winter long. Darn those high schoolers!!!

A Few Things...

I have been really busy lately. It is hard to get my DD#1 ready for college. Also we are having her big 18th birthday/college send off party tomorrow. We are doing a murder mystery, it will take about 4 hours with games, a who-dun-it? game, appetizers, dinner, and cake and ice cream. Plus a guest list over 20 adults (and all the little kids) and we are all dressing up like pirates, go check it out here. It will be a ball but it is a lot of work! Good thing 18th birthdays only come once. We did a similar thing for her big brother two years ago.

I got two more quilts cut out for the Hope House. I will be starting on these soon. They are going to be made with a block out of Quiltmakers 100 Block magazines.

The yellow one will look like this:

The red/black one will look like this:

Here is my August Schnibble. It actually got mostly sewn together. I just had to many irons in the fire and this one got put out. Darn. I will finish this one soon!

At the beginning of the month I won a book on a Blog Hop. It is Simply Charming Minis. It is such a fun book. All of the quilts are little. They are between the sizes of 13" to 21". She is going to a Mini Quilt Along. I love it!! I told myself that I would only join if I won a book so I guess I will be joining. I can't wait!

My main focus right now has been this little guy. I starting watching him in January when his mom went back to work. I watched his two big sisters before him. They are both in all day school and ride the bus home. The red spots on him are mosquito bite. Darn little bugs. He is so big and so happy. Now we have moved on to food and only one bottle a day. He still nurses a little in the evening.

One of the things that pushed the Schnibble's quilt out of the fire was this beauty. I was asked my a church member if I would put together this quilt for a woman who just lost her mom. They were working on these chicken scratchings together when she passed. I hope she loves it.

I received my August block for Block Swap Adventures. I LOVE IT!! the blue looks just like the sky.

Even my post is all over the place. I take DD#1 to college on Wednesday and I return home without her on Thursday. I will be sad. I am now. I know it is all for the good but she is one of my best friends. My other daughter being my other best friend of course. But DD#1 sews and quilts with me. Oh well, it is only three months. She will be home in December then will go back for her second semester in April to June. Crazy I know. Well have a good weekend and Labor Day. I will see you on Monday!!
