Maniac Monday for the 24th a Bust!

I should have had Maniac Monday on the 24th but never did. I love not having a "set in stone, lose your job, kinda deadline" for blogging. Most deadlines are self-imposed. So off the hook I let myself for last Monday. Back to it for tomorrow. In the spirit of being honest I was dragging my feet on my Le Petite pattern Mon Ami so I got nothing done! LOL! Well now that the end of the month is here and I no longer have to worry about the Le Petite goal I feel free to get back at what I want to do. I know that seems silly but that is how I feel. I have a few blocks for swaps to finish to be caught up.

I did get a few things finished.

A wall hanging for my sister-in-law for her new baby's room. The new little guy will be here in December. I just need to get the binding on and a hanger. She loves it!

A cute wall hanging/mug rug for a friend. I used this pattern from Artisania. Linda at Stray Stitches made one and I loved it.

Well I will be back tomorrow to be on track. I hope everybody has a great Sunday.

Bloggers’ Quilt Festival Fall 2011

Each spring and fall Amy from Amy's Creative Side gathers quilt stories online to help us inspire and support each other. I have never been apart of it and thought I would jump in.

The quilt I am showing is one of the quilts I made for Hands 2 Help Challenge. It was organized by Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for Green Fairy Quilts. Here is a video of what they did with our quilts. I loved doing this and I will be doing it again next year.

Here is my finished quilt:

Here is the pieced back:

The idea behind this challenge was that we would be paired up with a partner. You were to exchange 2 yards of fabric. You needed to take those 2 yards, add any fabric you wanted and make a quilt to donate to Green Fairy Quilts.

Here is what my partner sent me.

I then added the light tan and monkeys on the green back ground. I loved making this quilt. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you for stopping by.

Here are my gifts that I am sending her. I know there is three but the third one is so little.

For October The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap I had a nice gal in Australia. She asked for red, white, and pink in any combo. I thank these flowers look good together.

I received a few more blocks for my turn at Let's Bee Together.

That is 9 out of 12. I need to send some fabric to one gal. I have some red and pink fabric I need to make blocks with then I will have a whole rainbow of blocks. I can't wait to finish this quilt.

Maniac Monday #4

1. Finish my December Le Petite pattern Prairie Point Christmas from Moda Bake Shop.
Finished~I love this one. It was a little hard to work with the strips and prairie points. Then I put the bottom three rows on up side down. I fixed it and it is much better now.

2. Cut out January's Le Petite-Mon Ami.
Luckily it is already cut out. Wow, it has LOTS of little pieces. I have some of it sewn together. It is going to be slow going, I think that I am going to make a smaller wall hanging. I can't even think about doing this one in such short notice with so many other things I want to do. We will see. LOL!
3. Make blocks 5,6,and 7 for Celebrate Christmas Quilt Along.
Block 5~Done

 Block 6~Done

and block 7~done. These are so fun!

Plus a bonus block 8~done.

The Reason Behind MY Blog Name!

Dawn over at "As Sweet as Cinnamon" is having a little blog fun. Her question is "What's the reason behind the name?" Meaning the name of your blog. She is even having a give away to go with it. So this is what you need to do write a post about how you got your name for your blog and the story behind it. After that link up to her blog and your name is in the pot for a charm pack!! How fun. The following is my story for the name of my blog:

My name is Shannon. My husband and I were goofing off one day about the time we were married. He called me Shanunu! It stuck. Off and on all through our marriage he would call me Shanunu. LOL! So over time we shortened it to just Nunu, it is pronounced  like this noo noo, rhymes with moo moo (but that is a joke for another day). Now it is almost a term of endearment, great movie by the way! When I was deciding to do a blog I had been thinking about a name. I knew I needed one that was unique, something to help me to stand out. Well Nunu is was for sure. It was going to call my blog Nunu's Quilts, Cards, and Cakes but it seemed just too long. So I decided just to stick with the quilting and if that went well I could add in cards and cakes. I have been so busy that I have made no new cards in over a year gasp!! I have been making cakes though, for all my families birthday parties. I took a cake class at Joann's and have been hooked. I have made something like 20 cakes. Maybe I will add a page to show off my cakes. So anyway Nunu is me, Quilt is a blanket and World is where I am at. SOOOO
NUNU'S QUILT WORLD!

I am interested in reading everybody's stories. so go over and join in the fun.

Blocks, Blocks, and More Blocks

What is Happening...
I had a good weekend. I hope you all did. I went out with my husband Saturday night to bale some hay. It is fun going out with him in a tractor. It makes him feel good to be able to share that part of his life with me. I picked up Subway on the way out and we ate while driving in a field. Oh the life of a farmer. He is really the mechanic but sometimes he gets to drive the equipment he works on, LOL!

I received my Block Swap Adventure block for September. I love it. So fun to look at!! Thank you Linda B.

I am starting to receive my blocks back from the ladies I sent my fabric to for Let's Bee Together.

This block is from Linda. I just love '30s fabric. Thank you Linda!

This one is from Colleen.

This one is from Bailey.

This one is from Stacy.

Then this one is from Tiffany.

I am finally getting around to posting my bag and first two gifts from Andee for Santa Sack Swap2. She made me a bag out of cool '30s fabric. I could not help but squeeze the bags a little. I will not open them until Christmas Day!!

What I Accomplished...
I have finished my Birdie Stitches for July. I love this one. I like the fireworks!

I even finished my Birdie Stitches BOM for August over the week end. I love sunflowers. How sweet.

Here is block #4 for Celebrating Christmas Quilt Along. Lots of hand stitching. What do you think, does it look like a Christmas block? I think I have backed myself into a corner by deciding that I only want to use '30s fabric. Well I can just tell myself that it is a "country Christmas" LOL!!

I feel bad. I decided to follow along with Mug Rug Madness. But I have not. Well after this month is over I will go back and make some mug rugs for Christmas. It will be fun.
