New bags for my Aunt

My Aunt asked me to make her two bags. I was happy to make them for her. This bag pattern it so fun. I have them finished and they are on their way to California.
Here is the material. It is an outdoor material, kind of like canvas.

Here is the applique letter. I satin stitched all the way around. I did a large and small letter.

Here is a close up. Boy did it take a while.

This is the inside of the smaller bag.

Here they both are. The larger bag is for a computer. I hope she likes them.

I am so excited.

I am not sure now which blog I was at but I saw a post about www.quiltforkids.com I went and checked it out and I loved the idea. Kind of like Project Linus but they supply the fabric. I signed up and got the package today. I love it. I have started on it and I hope to have the top finished tomorrow. I hope you have fun looking at the material.

They even sent a label that I get to sign. It makes my happy to know that all my love and hugs will go to some child that needs them right now.
Have a good night.

Simple Sampler Quilt Along Week 6

I went back through my colors and the patterns and realized I had missed a color. ORANGE! I had messed up on the colors that Amy was using. I have decided that I will only fix Block 1. I have added the picture of the new block to the post for Block 1 and 2. Here are this weeks blocks.

One Week Challenge

Thank you Amy for this challenge. I am like so many others. I get caught up in all the things I want to do that sometimes I make very little headway on any of them. So for this challenge I would like to get Two bags made. It is my first paid job. They are for my Aunt that lives in California. I have the materials and the pattern now I just need to do it. I feel like if I don't have a deadline it might end up on the back burner. So that is my challenge project.

Simple Sampler Quilt Along Week 4

Before I went to bed last night I only got Block 7 done of week 4. I say "only", I did Blocks 1 thru 7 yesterday. That is funny. Anyways, I went to a movie today with my DD so did not sew at all this morning. It was nice to get out and spend time with my youngest. So here is my

New Bag

I started a new bag yesterday and finished it up today. It is much smaller than the blue and white one I made. I will find a happy medium.

I have started a new project. It is Eleanor Burns Twice as Nice...Plus More. I love it. I was not able to get a Jelly Roll from Moda so I just picked out some cute fabrics and cut them into 2 1/2" strips. Hopefully I can start sewing on them tomorrow. I love this pattern. You can get three quilts out of all the pieces that you cut. I can't wait to finish these. TTFN

The top is done!

I am still working on this quilt. I love it. I did not buy any extra material that matched the blocks and I should have. I had to buy different material for the borders and the backing. It still looks nice. I will be piecing the back today and then I am thinking I want to make a few bags. One from a pattern I already have, I have made one for my daughter. Then I want to make one from p.s. i quilt. I love her blog. Great tutorials.

Here is the one I made for DD. It is #1169 BYOB II The Big Shopper Bags in Multiple Sizes by Whistlepig Creek Productions. I love this bag. I am going to make a smaller one.

A work in progress...

I have spent most of the last two days reading over one of the blogs I am following. It is A Quilting Life: Simplicity... I love reading her path along this blogging road I am now taking. I love her projects and have decided to do a few of them myself. Thanks Sherrie, you have been an inspiration to me. I will be working on a project tomorrow if I can stop reading blogs. :) I wanted to post a picture of the quilt blocks, I have it pieced together now and am working on the borders. (The quilt that you see underneath is a duvet cover I made about two years back for our bed.) I hope that you all like it. I will be glad to have this one done. It should have been my first finished quilt but that is OK. I am learning from most of the blogs that I read that I am not the only one that is jumping from project to project.

Finally Finished!

I go to a quilt store near my home once a month to a "Saturday Sampler". We all meet at 9:00am and have a good time. I have been going for three years and will continue to go. The gal that runs it will usually have a joke or a story, there are announcements for upcoming class, and then we have a show and tell. One of the parts of the show in tell is "Finally Finished!" I will have a few this coming month and I can't wait. You have seen two of them and here is another one. In 2008 I did their BOM called, Carolyn's Paper-Pieced Garden. I have the top done and will be working on the borders, back, quilting and binding tomorrow. In the book there was a mini quilt wallhanging. I always over do things so I started that one too. Well it is Finally Finished!! It even has a label on the back. It is the first of my work to get a label. I hope you like it.

Happy 4th of July

I wanted to wish everybody a Happy 4th of July. I will not be in town tomorrow so I wanted to post this early. I will see you all on Monday. Here is my quilted flag I just finished. I sure did love making it. Thank you to Eleanor Burns. I have fallen in love with her work. On this web site http://quiltinaday.com/theater/default.html you can find all kinds of cool videos. This is where I found the instructions for the flag. I hope you all have a great time. God Bless America!

I am a new quilter but not a new sewer.

Good morning. Well let the rattling begin. Just like the title says I am a new quilter but not a new sewer. I have been sewing for almost 20 years. Over the years I have taught myself many things. The main things I have worked on has been cloths for my two daughters. Mostly dresses for church. I love making PJ bottoms and skirts. Now that my girls are older I have moved up to quilting. I LOVE IT!! I feel like that is where my creative energy has been ment to be this whole time. I have tried many crafts. Beading, crochet, scrapbooking, card making, clay, painting. But I know that fabric is my love. I thought I would share my first big quilt. I have made small ones that I will post later.

Started a Blog

Well I finally have done it. I have started a blog. I have been thinking about it for a long time. I am so busy making things that I thought I would share with the world what I can do. I hope that you will stop by and take a look.
