My Granddaughter Turned 1!!

Wow, where does the time go? My sweet little redheaded granddaughter turned on this last week. She is such a sweet little thing. She has brought great joy into our family. We got together Sunday to celebrate. We had a wonderful time. All I can say is my heart was 10 times to big that day!!

She is eating dinner.

Here she is with mom opening presents.

I was too busy filming her destroying the cake and forgot to take any pictures. But it sure was funny. Here is what her cake looked like when it was done.

Maniac Monday 5~Trip Around the Rainbow

I have been working hard to get a few projects to the next step. I have finished the top of my Trip Around the World quilt. It is a huge quilt. I LOVE IT!! I love rainbow anything so this quilt is a visual feast for me. I am going to work at getting this quilted this week.

HA HA It was a very windy day. Look Chompie is in the picture also.

My daughters are holding the quilt up for me. As you can see they are standing up on the very top of our picnic table. That shows how big it is. Their arms were getting tired of holding the quilt so they had to take a rest.

A Non-Quilty Post~The Ocean

Over spring break in March my family went on vacation to the Oregon Coast. We used to go almost every year but stopped after my husbands parents passed away. It was to hard to go so soon after they were gone. There are 8 children in his family and it was a family destination. Mom and dad would pick a time to go then as many children and their families that could go would rent one or two houses and make it a huge caravan to the coast. Well some time had to pass to make the trip not so painful. Four families got together and decided it was time to go. We rented a house near Newport and made the trip last for 8 days. It was WONDERFUL!!

Trees at Multnomah Falls.

Grandpa (my husband) and Abby.

Rhododendron at our house that we rented.

THE OCEAN!! I love the ocean. It refills my soul.

Big Foot, my husband, DD#2, my son, Abby, and DD#1.

Not sure what these flowers are called but they were right outside the front door.

A chair on the back porch. Look at all that moss.

Hubby and me on the beach. Yes it was raining and yes I have no shoes on. No matter the weather I always get my feet in the water.

Last but not least, the sun and the ocean. I am having this picture made into a 20" by 24" wrapped canvas to put in my bedroom. I took this with my iPhone. It turned out perfect.

I hope everybody has a chance to see the ocean. It is amazing this plant that Heavenly Father has made for us.

Local Scout Auction

In PQA we have been working on quilts that we donate as Charity Quilts to groups that are trying to raise money. So we donated a quilt to our church that just had a Boy Scout Auction. Actually we donated two quilts to two auctions. The first quilt raised $75.00. Here is a picture of the quilt I put together and quilted. The group sewed the rows together before I did my part. I love this pattern. It is so fun and easy to make. I do not not know how much this quilt raised.

As I was quilting this quilt I had major problems with my thread. The outside of the thread broke and slid up the shaft of the thread. So I ended up with this interesting bunched up thread. I had to unpick so much quilting. But I worked through it and got to were I would quilt for a bit and the thread would do this "thing" and as soon as it did it I would stop. I did finally get it all done. After I was done quilting that quilt and went back to piecing I did not have any more trouble with that spool. Weird!

One of the ladies that is in PQA asked if I would quilt a wall hanging for her for the same auction. I love the way it turned out. I thought of many different ways to do it but I finally used a brown thread that I borrowed to out line everything.

Maniac Monday 4~A Few Tops

I know I have been MIA for a while. I have been very busy. I have been sewing though.

These flowers were from my April partner. They are perfect!

In our PQA group we recently had a charm swap. We each signed up for one color. We needed to bring two different yards of that color. I took all the fabric and added some extras then cut all of it. It worked out to be 48 yards of fabric. It sure was hard to let it all go, LOL!! But everybody was so pleased with their share.

I signed up to make quilts for H2H. I have finished two tops, one for a girl and one for a boy. I saw this pattern and loved it. I think it is a BQ pattern. The blocks turned out to be 18.5 unfinished. I love the way they turned out.

Here is the quilt for the girl.

Here is the quilt for the boy.

I will be back later this week with more.
