Flowers and a Puppy

Today has been a great day. 5 ladies from my Parma Quilters Anonymous quilt group got together to cut out fabric for a Plus Sign Quilt Along that we are doing. My church is making and donating 68 quilts to Hope House near were I live. As a group we are donating 9 quilts. Here are our fabrics cut out. As you can see there are a lot of older '80s and '90s fabrics also some newer fabric.

These flowers are from my August partner for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.

These are the flowers I am sending to a different partner. I love them. She asked for '30s fabrics. My next hexie quilt will need to be made with these fabrics.

Now for the puppy. We have had Chompy for over a year. He is my BABY!! I love him. I can not tell you how happy he makes me. The other day my daughters, dogs, and the little guy I babysit went to town. DD#1 and I went into a LQS and when we came back out I opened the back door to get the human baby into his car seat and my doggie baby jumped out of the car!! On a busy street! WITH A TRUCK COMING!! Luckily Chompy got scared and ducked under the car and ran to the back then jumped into my arms when I went to get him. Oh my goodness he scared the you know what out of me. So lesson learned!! So anyway...I thought I would show a picture of my baby as a baby and now. Oh and he is sleeping with my husband. Love both of them.

Tetris Quilt Along Week #6

I am sad that the Tetris Quilt Along is finished. I have had fun looking forward to Tuesday mornings. A new block a new game!! I have my flimsy all sewn together. I can't wait to get to the next step! I am going to by black 1/4 inch ribbon to outline each 4 piece block. I was going to sew the ribbon on but now I think I am just going to glue them on.

Block #6

 Blocks # 4, 5, and 6 sewn together.

All 6 blocks together. Can I say how big this quilt is. IT IS HUGE!! I am standing on a chair holding my hands out as far and as wide as I can. 54 X 81 I think I am going to donate it to the charity I am working on right now. Hope House, a place for kids and young adults. This would be perfect.

Here are a few blocks I have made for my swaps.

Tetris Quilt Along Week #5

Well another wonderful block. I am so happy with the way this has turned out! One more week and then it will become a quilt top. Today I made my block #5 and then I sewed blocks 4 and 5 together. I decided not to use the whites that came in our Tetris Charm Swap. Most of them had color on them and I wanted white on white. I cut some blocks from my stash and added them into my kit for this project.

Andee over at The Modern Diary posted a picture that I new I needed to have. Back in December we where Santa Sack Swap2 partners. I made her a sewing machine cover. She says then when she takes it off her machine her doggie Bug likes to sleep on it. For me that is an honor. I have pets and I am a total animal lover. So for Bug to feel that the cover is worthy of a nap that makes me feel so good. Sleep on little doggie sleep on!!!

I thought I would add a photo of the sunsets we have been having. Around were we live we have been having big forest fires and our air is filled with smoke. So when the sun is setting there is an amazing red, orange, yellow glow. So sad and pretty at the same time.

Tetris Quilt Along Week 4

I forgot to add my pattern for my week three. Here it is.

Here is the pattern for week 4.

Here it is all sewn up!

Here is weeks 1,2, and 3 all sewn together. I love it. It is going to be a huge quilt!!

I have a niece, the big sister to the little guy I watch, that has started quilting. She got a sewing machine at Christmas and planned a quilt to make for her sister. Here is her flimsy. She hand embroidered all the monkey faces in the centers and sewed each block by herself, with help when she needed it. She then sewed all the sashing by herself as well. She did a wonderful job. Each block is about 18.5" so it is a large quilt. I am so proud of her. She has started on a second quilt for herself with frogs in the centers. Oh and she is only 10 years old!! Looks like I have a sewing partner even after DD#1 goes off to school!

Maniac Monday

It has been a hard few weeks.First my mother-in-law passed away. It is never easy to watch a loved one loss a family member. My husband now has lost both of his parents. He is only 41. So he is a little lost right now. Then 12 days after he lost her my grandmother passed a away. My mom's mom. Now I have watched my husband loss his mom and my mom loss her mom. It is a little too much. I am sad. I have had depression for a lot of years. I have been on medication for about 5 years. I can feel that old black cloud moving in again. I am trying not to let it. Chin up and all that stuff. I will get better, I KNOW IT!! School starts soon for my youngest and I will start watching that sweet little guy again. He will brighten my day!! DD#2 goes off to college in a month. Big changes, I think that is part of it also. OK moving on!!

In all of this trouble I have been sewing a little. Here is my August Hello Sun QA block. I just love these sunny smiley guys. So cute!!

I have finished my August Let's Bee Together block. I will be sending it out to my partner this week. I love it. The colors are so bright and fun.

I have been doing a little sew for just me. I did this sewing bag out of my new roll of Marmalade. Love the colors of this fabric. Here are a few pictures of the bag, a few extra pouches I made, and most of my goodies in them, also a needle book with hexies! I am going to make a box bag for my pedal soon. Now when I go to someone else's house to sew I will have everything all together.

Tetris Week 3

Here is my Tetris  QA week #3 block. This one was fun. Lots of the same blocks. I love it. I can't wait to finish this one. I am thinking about outlining the blocks with black ribbon or black bias tape. I want each block to stand out. I am going to join the first three blocks together tomorrow.
