A Long Miscellaneous Post

Do you remember how I was saying that my machine was acting funny and I could not figure it out. Well I do believe I found the problem. Look at these two pictures of the placement of my needle. See how close it it to the back of the foot. I have had this problem for a long time. It makes my thread break and sometimes my needle breaks because it gets stuck on the foot as I am sewing. Boy do things explode when that happens.
Well I got mad today because I broke three of the last four needles I had. I opened the side of the machine and moved things around and looked things over really good. I am not a sewing machine repair person but I can get mad enough to fix things myself once in a while. I found the screw that controls where the tip of the needle is in space and cranked the puppy down until I fixed it. Not knowing if I had just fixed it or totally messed it up I moved cautiously into sewing. She purrs like a kitten now. The needle is moved away from the back. I am so happy!! I hope you can see that the needle is now a safe distance from the back of the foot.

These next four pictures are half finished Schnibbles patterns I found. I have one top finished but I messed it up so I need to go in and fix it. But it is in the bottom of a tote and I did not feel like digging it out today. Maybe Monday. There are four more Schnibble projects I did not even start.

This is a picture of a group of blocks for my area Shop Hop 2013. I have seven blocks I think. It will be a fall quilt top when finished. I will need to find a few blocks to round out to 12 then get it all worked together.

Clear back at the beginning of May Green Fairy Quilts had a giveaway. I WON!! I won a fat quarter bundle of Posh Pumpkins by Sandy Gervais for Moda! I love it. Fall, orange, Halloween, pumpkins!! I tell you it was a match made in the pumpkin patch!!

Last year over at Making Ends Meet April had a Quilt Along that I was invited to join, Hello Sun. I love it. I have had these blocks done for a while but never took pictures of them. So in no specific order the last four blocks.

When I was done with all the blocks I took the rest of the yellow strips I had and made them into cute 3 1/2 inch squares. The idea was to use them in making the Hello Sun quilt. But now that I am doing Hello Moon, also at Making Ends Meet, I think I am going to wait. I might want to put all 24 blocks into the same quilt.

Here are the first four blocks of Hello Moon in no particular order. I have not done any of the stitching yet.
I had some gift money that I used to buy me some goodies. I can't wait to play with them.
happy-go-lucky by Bonnie and Camille for Moda
and Mod-Century by Jenn Sky for Moda.

One last thing. I have been working on this little beauty for about a month now. I got the pattern from a friend and promptly went and bought fabric for it. Now that I have my sewing room I can see the kitchen table. Here are a few pictures of it's progress. I have the binding sewn on and I hope to finish it tonight or in the morning. I did not put any batting in it because I want it to be as flat as it can be.

Sorry for the long post. Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Maniac Monday

It has been a hard few weeks.First my mother-in-law passed away. It is never easy to watch a loved one loss a family member. My husband now has lost both of his parents. He is only 41. So he is a little lost right now. Then 12 days after he lost her my grandmother passed a away. My mom's mom. Now I have watched my husband loss his mom and my mom loss her mom. It is a little too much. I am sad. I have had depression for a lot of years. I have been on medication for about 5 years. I can feel that old black cloud moving in again. I am trying not to let it. Chin up and all that stuff. I will get better, I KNOW IT!! School starts soon for my youngest and I will start watching that sweet little guy again. He will brighten my day!! DD#2 goes off to college in a month. Big changes, I think that is part of it also. OK moving on!!

In all of this trouble I have been sewing a little. Here is my August Hello Sun QA block. I just love these sunny smiley guys. So cute!!

I have finished my August Let's Bee Together block. I will be sending it out to my partner this week. I love it. The colors are so bright and fun.

I have been doing a little sew for just me. I did this sewing bag out of my new roll of Marmalade. Love the colors of this fabric. Here are a few pictures of the bag, a few extra pouches I made, and most of my goodies in them, also a needle book with hexies! I am going to make a box bag for my pedal soon. Now when I go to someone else's house to sew I will have everything all together.

My doggie is fine! He slept fine. He only bothered it a little. But remember the blue tape around his ankle. It cut the circulation off to his foot. It was swollen when I took it off. Within a few hours it was back to normal size and he is walking on it like nothing is wrong. It has not started bleeding again. We are past the scary part. Now I hope that he does not get an infection. I will be finding a different way to trim his nails. I will not do that again!

Worktable Wednesday

In September my oldest daughter (DD#1) is leaving to go off to collage. I can't believe that I have a son who is married and a daughter that is a college student. WOW!! SO anyway, when she goes off to school

I GET HER ROOM!!

I am sure that you understand how excited I am. I will get to make a sewing room out of it. I am going to remake an old TV stand into storage and my husband will be making me a sewing/cutting table. We are redecorating her room in a way that she will like it until then and I will like it from then on. It has been fun working with her on colors and trying to find something we both like.

Until then...
I thought it would be fun to take a picture of my kitchen table. I have been sewing there for almost two years. It has been a great spot. Very little storage, it's a table, LOL! But it has served me well. I have almost always left my projects out even when I am not working on them. Here is a picture. I have added descriptions to what you will see in it. Have fun looking at my mess.

Maniac Monday #5 2012

It has been a fun two weeks. With all the baby love and fabric it does not take long and days then weeks go by. I have gotten a bunch done. I hope you like all the pictures.

I was able to finish most of my goals from two weeks ago.
1. Block Swap Adventure blocks for February and March.
Done~Posted pictures on previous post.

2. Count on It~ Art to Heart for February and start on March.
Done~Finished February and posted a picture on the previous post. I started on March and also on April.
3. Hello Sun QA for January and February.
Done~Plus I also got March's block done. They are so cute!!

January
February
March

4. Bonnie Hunter step 1.
I have gotten about half of this step done. I already have all the pieces of step 2 cut out. Wow and step 2 is 120 more of the same block. :)

Onto other news...
I received my February block from my partner in Block Swap Adventures. I LOVE IT!! The blue and yellow have sparkle in it. Below is a close up. Thank you!! She even sent me a scrap piece of the blue.

I was part of a group on Flickr. The Geese in a Ring Swap. I received my blocks. The first block is the one I made. The others are made from the other 7 swap partners. Now I have 8 blocks. I will be making a few others to get 12 then I will be making it into a quilt. I was also thinking of making a very large one and placing it into the center and putting the other 8 around the outside. I am not sure.
Th one blow was made with hand dyed fabric, how special.
I think this one was made will my color choice was blue/yellow. It is very pretty.

I have mentioned before that in my quilt group that I started up in my hometown we are doing a quilt along. It is Count Your Blessings by Briarwood Cottage. These are the next blocks we made. The geese block I made two.

I made three of this block.

So for next week my goals are:

1. Finish step 1 and start on step 2 of Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt.
2. Finish March and April's Count on It calendar wall hangings.
3. Get caught up on my Designer Mystery blocks. I think I am about 6 blocks behind. Well ok maybe my goal should be get 2 blocks done. LOL!
4. Get started on my March Schnibble.

I hope everybody can set goals for themselves and get at least half of them crossed off your list.
