Finished Quilt For Irish Chain Quilt-A-Long

 I AM FINISHED!!!
I quilted it over a few days and I finished it yesterday. Today I put the binding on and took care of the thread ends. I love this quilt. I will wash it tomorrow and put it on my bed tomorrow evening. I can't wait to sleep under my own quilt. Chompie is helping hold down the quilt while I worked it around in my sewing machine. Nice doggie! Ha Ha!

Her is the finished quilt. I had my husband and brother-in-law hold it up. The both are over 6 feet and ti was way over their heads. I it s queen, 90" x 90".

I thought I would show you what else I have been working on. I am now helping my husband and my brother-in-law make groomers for horse arenas. So I am working with metal. My hands do not look like a ladies hands, I can not get the black out all the way.

This is the finished groomer.

This is me cleaning one of the pieces.

I will leave you with a picture of my little family. Me, my husband, our daughters who are off at school again, my son, his wife and our two grand babies.

Girls and Flowers

Good morning everybody. I hope your day is going well so far. Mine is good but a little sad. My husband and I took our daughters back to college this last Saturday. They will be gone for about three months. It has been fun with them home. Now the house is quiet. Here are the 3 of us with Chompie at their apartment.

I'm trying to get caught up on my hexies. I received these from my February partner. They are great!

These ones are from my March partner. They are so fun.
(Isn't it weird how my camera changed the color of the counter trying to capture the color of this flower. I tried to fix it but could not.)

Maniac Monday 5~Trip Around the Rainbow

I have been working hard to get a few projects to the next step. I have finished the top of my Trip Around the World quilt. It is a huge quilt. I LOVE IT!! I love rainbow anything so this quilt is a visual feast for me. I am going to work at getting this quilted this week.

HA HA It was a very windy day. Look Chompie is in the picture also.

My daughters are holding the quilt up for me. As you can see they are standing up on the very top of our picnic table. That shows how big it is. Their arms were getting tired of holding the quilt so they had to take a rest.

WIP Wednesday-Birdie Stitches

I am joining in today with everybody over at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday. Please stop by and take a peak at some great blogs!
Way back in 2011, ha ha that was SO long ago, I joined up with a quilt along done by Little Miss Shabby called Birdie Stitches. I loved making each and every block. Yesterday I decided it was time to break it out and get the top done. I have added a small sashing around each block. I used the fabric that I used in the centers. Next I am adding a small sashing of a matching darker fabric. When that is done it will be so cute.
This picture is the June block.
This is the December block with the first sashing.
This is the view from my seat in the sewing/DD#1 bedroom. She is working on FMQ a quilt that PQA members work on for her two years ago. Then right in front is my sweet baby, Chomper! He is sitting on my blocks.

I hope to get the top done tomorrow. It should come together very fast now. I need to add a few more center sashing strips, sew it together, and add binding. Then I can call it a finish project, ok we'll a finished top.

Maniac Monday

Well hello! Long time no see, again. I have not been doing much sewing because working on my projects have taken up all of my free time. I had a blast making all of those hexies!! Here is a picture of the little flowers before I put them on the big black hexie. What a cute stack of flowers.

So with the rest of my time I have been hanging out with my husband out on the farm baling until 5:00am. Here is the huge machine he drives once in a while. He is the mechanic but once in a while he gets to play with the equipment he fixes. What you see here is the huge tractor, the Steamer, the baler, and then the accumulator. It is a long train but it gets the job done. And yes people stop on the side of the road to watch because here in Idaho there are only two Steamers

My girls and I had an opportunity to go to Education Week and DD#1 college at the first of the month. We spent four days together in Rexburg enjoying the classes and each other.

We also did a bunch of yard work. After living here so long I have it down to just general up keep but every once in a while a tree or two needs to come down and that is where the three of us step in. This tree was so dead that we were able to pull it over. Here the girls are sitting on said tree. You can see my two doggies in the background.

Here the tree is ready to be burned. There are the branches of the second tree, But it was not ready to give in so now we have a weird looking trunk on the edge of our property.

I did get some quilting done. I helped with this quilt that Chompie is sitting on. PQA (my quilting group) put together this quilt to help a local boy with cancer. After the top was together I quilted it. Sad to say that it only went for $50.00 at his silent auction. You can see DD#1 in the mirror.

Here is DD#2 on her first day of her last year in high school. She will be graduating next year and then off to college with her sister next fall. I am one sad proud mama!!

I have started to can. I bought a pressure canner and bottle chicken, hamburger, and pickles. Unfortunately even with following Ball's pickle recipe they are WAY to salty. I will have to try again.

Then here are the girls from yesterday. We had a family get together with my husbands family. Labor Day Hot Dog Roast. Such great fun to see all of the cousins playing. Boy how this family is growing.

So see I have been busy. But now that the blog hop is over and things are slowing down I can get back to my life. DD#2 is in school. I do not have any little ones to watch. DD#1 is going back to school the weekend of  14th and 15th of this month. Wow, nice and quiet sewing days are in my future!!

Maniac Monday~Late HA HA

I was busy all last week sewing away. But come this weekend I did not set foot into my sewing room. Hubby was home Saturday which is unusual this time of year. So we did a bunch of yard work in the morning and just spent down time the rest of the day and all day Sunday. It was great.

I did get those Pincushions filled and sewn together. They turned out great. You can see how big they are. My DD#1 has already picked out one of the triangle ones.
This is the crushed walnut shells I used to fill them with. It was about $6.00 for 5 quarts. I still have over half the bag left.

I am getting closer to being caught up with the other people doing the It's a Mini Quilt Along. The gal who was running the quilt along was having some troubles and stopped posting what the next pattern was so some of the ladies on the Flickr group have kind of taken over and and started suggesting what the next pattern could be. I am just going to keep up with them. I would like to finish this quilt along. I had said that if I won a copy of the book that I would do it. I won so I am going to follow through with what I started.

#4~Mini Flower Garden
#5~Criss Cross Applesauce

In PQA we have started up a new project. Donation or charity quilts made by us for people in need. Here is my part for quilt #2. It is going to a fundraiser for a man and his family. He will be having a lung transplant and the costs will exceed 1 million dollars. We go to church with his mother and we are friends with her. Many of us know this young man. It is so sad. He is such a nice guy. This is just a very tiny thing we can do to help him out. Go watch the video of his story here

Ha ha I thought I would add a picture of Chompie. He is so cute!! You see how his left eye is kind of closed, well he had a Cheatgrass sticker stuck in between the inside of his eye and the upper lid. It is a horrible sticker that with movement burrows its way deeper into what ever it is stuck in including socks and animal fur. It was in there for two days working its way deeper into his head before I found it and pulled it out. Boy was it stuck. YUCKY!! He is better now and his eye is back to normal.

Maniac Monday

I forgot to post this two weeks ago. So here it is, LOL!

Here is a fun picture of my baby, LOL!

Well this is the week. I take my daughter to college on Wednesday then come home without her on Thursday. She will be there until December 15th. I will be strong but on the way home I WILL CRY!!! We had her 18th birthday yesterday and it was a blast!! My husband was murdered and my daughter-in-law was the murderer. We did a Murder Mystery Party, no she really did not kill him, HA HA! We had so much fun. I need to get a few things worked on tomorrow. We will have our PQA meeting tomorrow and it will be DD#1 last one until next year.  That sounds weird.

Flowers and a Puppy

Today has been a great day. 5 ladies from my Parma Quilters Anonymous quilt group got together to cut out fabric for a Plus Sign Quilt Along that we are doing. My church is making and donating 68 quilts to Hope House near were I live. As a group we are donating 9 quilts. Here are our fabrics cut out. As you can see there are a lot of older '80s and '90s fabrics also some newer fabric.

These flowers are from my August partner for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.

These are the flowers I am sending to a different partner. I love them. She asked for '30s fabrics. My next hexie quilt will need to be made with these fabrics.

Now for the puppy. We have had Chompy for over a year. He is my BABY!! I love him. I can not tell you how happy he makes me. The other day my daughters, dogs, and the little guy I babysit went to town. DD#1 and I went into a LQS and when we came back out I opened the back door to get the human baby into his car seat and my doggie baby jumped out of the car!! On a busy street! WITH A TRUCK COMING!! Luckily Chompy got scared and ducked under the car and ran to the back then jumped into my arms when I went to get him. Oh my goodness he scared the you know what out of me. So lesson learned!! So anyway...I thought I would show a picture of my baby as a baby and now. Oh and he is sleeping with my husband. Love both of them.
