Gone But Not Lost

Once again, life has gotten busy. We moved! Over Christmas break from school, my family moved to a new house out in the country. It is a wonderful house. I love it. Not at first, but I do now. It will take a while for me to get used to country living but I know I can do it.

Here is the living room in a state of reconstruction. The walls were painted a different color, from this blue/gray to a soft orange/tan.

Here is the new wall color.

Laying down new floor. The kitchen had a hole in the floor and we had to remodel before we moved in. Love the look of the new floor!

I have been sewing. Mostly Hexies for the group I am in. The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. It started out as a blog but is now just a Facebook Group.

In my quilt group that I run with some friends of mine, Parma Quilters Anonymous, We are working on each others blocks. Here is the start of one for this month.

I worked on a quilt about two years ago. I still have not finished the top! But with all of the bonus triangles, I made this little quilt, wonky stars. I love it. You can see my husband's bald head. I wanted to leave his fingers in the picture so you could see the over all size!

Here I am with my cute youngest grand daughter. This is Cora, she just turned two. I have started watching them again. So, between them and school, I have very little time left. But school will be over soon. I only have a semester and a half until graduation. Then back to full time quilting and part time babysitting. I can't wait. Then I can start blogging again!!

Posh Pumpkins Around the World

Way back in May of 2013, Green Fairy Quilts was giving away a fat quarter bundle of Posh Pumpkins. And I won!!

Like I said before, orange is my favorite color. I try not to drool over fabric, but this line is to drool for. After I received it, it sat on a shelf until I decided what I was going to make with it.

I finally figured it out, I wanted my PQA friends to help me. Last year we were making blocks for each other, so I thought this would be the perfect time to cut that bundle into little pieces. I remembered the quilt everybody was making a while back and I knew this was the right pattern. I found Bonnie Hunter's pattern, cut up the fabric, and passed it all out. I received back 25 blocks. I love them. They are just perfect. All of those wonderful fall colors I love. I had a lot of fun with the layout, but decided on this design.

Now that all of the blocks are together, I know I did the right thing with this gift. The quilt measures 48 x 72, not a bad size!

Then one of my sweet PQA friends gifted me two charm packs of Posh Pumpkins and a stack of similar fabrics. Now I can make more blocks!!

I am so excited. I can't wait to finish this quilt!

Manic Monday~9 Getting a Lot Off My List

I have had a busy few days. My dad is a volunteer firefighter. His group had a BBQ/Auction this weekend. He asked that I make a quilt to put in the auction. So being me I made two. They are very simple quilts. I bought two fabrics that had sections in them. I cut the sections apart, added sashing, and then put them back together. I added just fleece to the back with no batting.

This one went for $65.00.

This one went for $65.00. Not bad. I paid about $45.00 for the fabric for both of them and the fire department made $140.00. I love that!!

I made more quilts for my church. We had a Humanitarian Night. All the ladies got together and put together backpacks filled with school supplies for our local schools. We tied quilts for a local Food Bank. We also made stuffed bears for a hospital nearby to give to hurt and sick kids. This bellow is one of the quilts laid out on my bed before I finished the top. Now I need to get the binding on all of them, wash them, and drop them off.

I had taken a picture of my two blocks all finished and stacked before I made the top for Double Delight. I wanted to added a picture here for the fun of it. That right there was a lot of work. I have it sandwiched and have started the quilting. I needed to stop for the above quilts. I am hoping to get back to it soon.

In my PQA group we did another fabric swap. These are becoming really popular. We have more planned. I received the fabric and finished cutting the strips for our fall set. I still have to cut the patriotic set. But I thought you would like to see some of the rows laid out.

Here they are all rolled up and tied with a  ribbon. HA HA they look so beautiful!!

One of my favorite flowers is in bloom in my yard. It is a Trumpet Plant or what we like to call a moon flower. We love them and they are huge. Almost the size of a dinner plate.

I hope your day goes well and you get  a lot accomplished!!

Local Scout Auction

In PQA we have been working on quilts that we donate as Charity Quilts to groups that are trying to raise money. So we donated a quilt to our church that just had a Boy Scout Auction. Actually we donated two quilts to two auctions. The first quilt raised $75.00. Here is a picture of the quilt I put together and quilted. The group sewed the rows together before I did my part. I love this pattern. It is so fun and easy to make. I do not not know how much this quilt raised.

As I was quilting this quilt I had major problems with my thread. The outside of the thread broke and slid up the shaft of the thread. So I ended up with this interesting bunched up thread. I had to unpick so much quilting. But I worked through it and got to were I would quilt for a bit and the thread would do this "thing" and as soon as it did it I would stop. I did finally get it all done. After I was done quilting that quilt and went back to piecing I did not have any more trouble with that spool. Weird!

One of the ladies that is in PQA asked if I would quilt a wall hanging for her for the same auction. I love the way it turned out. I thought of many different ways to do it but I finally used a brown thread that I borrowed to out line everything.

Maniac Monday 4~A Few Tops

I know I have been MIA for a while. I have been very busy. I have been sewing though.

These flowers were from my April partner. They are perfect!

In our PQA group we recently had a charm swap. We each signed up for one color. We needed to bring two different yards of that color. I took all the fabric and added some extras then cut all of it. It worked out to be 48 yards of fabric. It sure was hard to let it all go, LOL!! But everybody was so pleased with their share.

I signed up to make quilts for H2H. I have finished two tops, one for a girl and one for a boy. I saw this pattern and loved it. I think it is a BQ pattern. The blocks turned out to be 18.5 unfinished. I love the way they turned out.

Here is the quilt for the girl.

Here is the quilt for the boy.

I will be back later this week with more.

NTT-Scrappy PQA Quilt

Kelly over at My Quilt Infatuation has a cool link up party every Thursday. You can link up anything that you make with needle and thread. It does not need to be a finished project. You can be at any step from planning to bound and washed.
Today I am linking up my quilt that my friends at PQA have helped me make. You can hop over to our blog to check out my rows here. I started with a scrappy row made of squares. I asked for any scrappy row. They did wonderful work for me.
Here are my rows laid out on my bed.
I had a row of scrappy wonky stars on a white background that just did not seem to fit. After looking at the strip I decided to separate them and add them to the corners. I used some of the other strips and white to make borders big enough to make the corner blocks fit. It turned out so cool. The quilt needed the white to break up all of the scrappiness!
Thank you ladies for your help! It is wonderful!

Maniac Monday

So I have been busy this week. I have had some good times in my sewing room. I dug out a couple of Halloween UFO's. This is how far I am on both. I am done with the tops. I need to sew on buttons and things after I quilt them. They are both patterns from magazines. I love this top one. There are window flaps that when they open...
there are some Halloween friends hiding inside.

This little one is called Little Witchy. She is so cute.

In PQA this year we are doing a monthly mystery quilt. I have finished my second set of blocks.

I have decided on a lay out. Now I am just sewing them together. Then on to the border step.

One last thing. I made a Button for a Flickr group I am a part of. It is the Mug Rug Revival. We are currently on swap #3. Stop by to see when we are done if you are interested in swapping mug rugs. Oh and here is a look at the Button.

I hope everybody's weekend so a good one.
