A Finished Top~NTT

Over at My Quilt Infatuation, Kelly, has a link-up party every Thursday. I just finished this quilt top so I wanted to join in the fun.

I am not sure when this Saturday Sampler started, but my first post about this quilt was way back in 2010. Over all these years, I had finished the blocks, but they sat in a box in my closet. Today, after working on the bellow project, I decided I needed to work on something different. After looking at a couple newer UFO's, I decided to work on something old. I broke this out and knew the time had come for me to make the top. Because all the blocks are weird sizes, the top does not come together easily. I had to add a bunch of pieces to make things line up. Now I am happy to show off the the finished top. I hope to soon have this as a finished quilt. I am not sure what I am going to do with this once it is finished, but it will not be a UFO no more!!

I have been doing a Mystery Quilt in PQA, my quilt group. We have been working on Twinkle2 QAL. I decided to make a queen size quilt. I have figured I need to make 90 blocks. I have been slowly working on these blocks. I have finished 70 blocks so far. I am on the last 20 blocks. It will have dark brown in the flying geese. The next step is to add the sashing and corner stones. After that I will sew it all into a quilt top. I am so excited. This will be my second quilt with this pattern.

NTT~Ocean Quilt

Kelly over at My Quilt Infatuation is linking up again. I have so many UFO's like most of us do. What am I going to do...create another quilt!! I wanted a new quilt for my bed that reflexes something that both my husband and I like. We both love the ocean. He loves blue, I love green. I found a book at Joann's that was just what I was looking for. I have been busy sewing the pieces and got to a point where I felt like I need to add more craziness to the piecing. Why not add a UFO so that I can sew both at the same time. I added my Double Delight (a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt). In the picture you can see the teal pieces for the Ocean Quilt and the purple and orange for the Double Delight.

Here I have blue and teal pieces for the Ocean Quilt with yellow and white pieces for my Double Delight.

As I was working on the lay out for the Ocean Quilt my daughter thought it would be fun to be a dork but I GOT HER!!! She told me to delete it. I did one better I am bogging about it. HA HA!

Here is my Ocean Quilt laid out. it goes from brown which is the sand to green for seaweed to teal and blue for the ocean and sky to grey for the clouds. I am sewing the rows together now. I can't wait until it is done. I LOVE IT!!

As for the Double Delight, I have all the pieces sewn now. I just need to trim about 2/3 of them. Then I can start making blocks. I got more of it done than if I had just worked on only one quilt.

NTT-Scrappy PQA Quilt

Kelly over at My Quilt Infatuation has a cool link up party every Thursday. You can link up anything that you make with needle and thread. It does not need to be a finished project. You can be at any step from planning to bound and washed.
Today I am linking up my quilt that my friends at PQA have helped me make. You can hop over to our blog to check out my rows here. I started with a scrappy row made of squares. I asked for any scrappy row. They did wonderful work for me.
Here are my rows laid out on my bed.
I had a row of scrappy wonky stars on a white background that just did not seem to fit. After looking at the strip I decided to separate them and add them to the corners. I used some of the other strips and white to make borders big enough to make the corner blocks fit. It turned out so cool. The quilt needed the white to break up all of the scrappiness!
Thank you ladies for your help! It is wonderful!
