Hands 2 Help 2017 Challenge Completed

It is that time. Time to link up all of the H2H Challenge Quilt finishes. I just finished the binding on my three quilts today. I have had a lot of fun watching these quilts come together. (I have posted about these quilts in previous posts.) I used the same fabric for all three quilts. I quilted them on my regular sewing machine and machine sewed on the binding. I have learned, that for quilts I know (or hope) will be used a lot, that machine and not hand binding, will last longer. I sure hope that each of these will make someone happy. I have chosen to send all three to Emily at Em's Scrap Bag for Happy Chemo. I have had a lot of family members with cancer. I hope that as the people that receive these quilts fighting cancer, will be able to look at the happy bright colors and gain some strength. Linking up with Sarah over at Confession of a Fabric Addict. Go check it out and have a good time looking at all the quilts.

Strips and Four Patch

I have been following the Missouri Start Quilt Company lately. I am really loving there quilts. When I saw a recent news report about how this quilt shop started up, it really hit a soft spot of mine. Go watch it, it is fantastic! It sounds like a life that some of us quilters dream of. Starting a small business of your passion and then it grows into a huge thing that you can't hardly keep up with. It is just a wonderful story.

Anyways, I found they had an app that I put on my phone, that I can keep up with all of their video's. I think I have watched them all. When I was not able to blog as much for a while, I was buying fabric like if I didn't, I would loss my love of fabric. One day, I decided it was time for me to get back at the machine. I matched a video off of MSTC's (Missouri Start Quilt Company) app and a jelly roll I had bought on one of the Daily Specials and I was off. I did not stop that day until it was almost done! I was so happy to be sewing again.

The pattern was Strips and Four Patches. A very simple quilt pattern made from a jelly roll of print fabric and a jelly roll of a solid. I just used yardage and cut up my own jelly roll. One of the most frustrating parts of using precuts, is that they are not exact. Here is a picture of my two strips together, the white that I cut, is much smaller than their precut jelly roll. But I made it work!

By the time I was finished, I was in love with this quilt. It is so simple, but fun and colorful!! Here it is in my Quilt Show I put on in July for my community's summer celebration, Old Fort Boise Days. I hope you go give the video and website a look. They are a great business and have some fun things.

I am whooping it up with Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict:

Show and Tell Challenge Finish

A few weeks ago, Jo and Kelly at Jo's Country Junction, had a challenge to finish a Bonnie Hunter quilt they wanted to show at their quilt retreat. They meet their goal. Their quilt is beautiful. I missed my goal date, but I did not stop. I finished it. It is quilted, washed, and labeled. I love it. It is a great quilt. I am glad I did this quilt. It has a million pieces. It took forever. Each step drove me crazy. But, I am glad she is going on my stack of quilts and staying here with me.

I named her "Sunny Garden". I love all the yellow, it is so sunny!! My daughter did the binding. She spent the better part of three days hand sewing the binding down. I am glad she had a part to play in this quilt. I am going to send a link to this post to Jo and Kelly, and to Bonnie Hunter, so they can see that I finished this quilt. HA HA.

Maniac Monday 1~ 2014

So I have finally made it back into my sewing room. It has taken a while. My health has been a little better. I am fighting a new cold now. I had more blood work done on Friday and I will know soon what the next step will be. If my liver functions are better, then I will not have to have a liver biopsy and I might be able to start up some RA medication. Oh yeah I forgot. I am off all my RA meds and it is killing me!! I hurt so bad. This too shall pass. So if my liver functions are still bad then no RA meds and we will do the biopsy to see what is going on.
I have been working on a few things. On Wednesday I posted that I was working on one of my UFO's. It is part of my 2014 Plans~15 for '14. I had decided I was not putting myself under any pressure to make them finished projects, but at least to get them to the next stage. We'll I have a completed top now of my Birdie Stitches by Little Miss Shabby.
I also made a cute little thread catcher.
Then while I was in the sewing room and had done a good job at moving a UFO to the next step I took out a UFO that was not on my list. I had saved all the fabric from my 2012 Designer Mystery BOM. I had been cutting it up to make a different quilt then the one the fabric was ment for. I found this very cute quilt called On The Road To Spring by I Have To Say. So I finished cutting all the pieces and spent the afternoon mindlessly chain stitching. I am not sure when I will get back to it but at least this moved a little too!
I hope everybody is doing ok with the crazy weather the country is having. Last weekend we had 5 inches of snow on the ground. No it has all melted off and has rained so much there is talk of flooding. CRAZY!!

Maniac Monday

What a week. I have been sewing up a storm. And relaxing. I have big things in the works but I will have to keep it a secret for a bit longer. I can't wait to share!!

I have been getting caught up on my Saturday Sampler blocks. Here are two of them. I love the fun brights with the black.

With Halloween coming so quickly I wanted to get two of my UFO's done and out of the way. I have had these two wall hangings for so long. I got them out and finished them. They are so cute. The top one I still need to add a few buttons to. The bottom one has 3D shutters that flap open and closed. I am going to give it to my nieces and nephew. I know they will like it.

As I was doing all of this fun sewing I got a little careless. I cut my thumbnail with my rotary cutter. Luckily it only got my nail. No blood. You can see inside that black circle where the blade went. I am so glad it stopped. I would have cut the top of my finger off!!

I finished another UFO. Well Three. I have had this pattern from the very beginning back in 2010. It is Twice as Nice... Plus More from Eleanor Burns. When I started these little quilts I knew that my first Granddaughter would get them. I am glad to have them finished before she turned 21. HA HA!!
Speaking of my Granddaughter. Here she is in her little Boise Bronco's cheer leading outfit. She is so cute!!

I hope that everybody has a great week!!

Some of the things I have been doing...

I have a friend that asked if I would be able to quilt a quilt that she had made for a friend of hers. She brought over this wonderful quilt. I am still learning how to quilt and I told her that but she was sure I would do a good job. I straight line quilted part of it and then FMQ in the horse squares. It turned out great. I loved it. She paid me $30.00. I was so excited!! I have not heard if the friend that received it liked it. I'm sure she did.

One of the UFO's I have pulled out of my closet is Twice As Nice: Eleanor Burns Signature Quilt. It uses one jelly roll plus yardage for borders, sashing, and backing. I made my own jelly roll with fabrics from Joann's. I had all of the blocks for all three quilts finished when I put it away. This is what they looked like as I was getting them out and figuring out my next steps. I just bought some fabric for borders so that is the next step. I will add some pictures of the tops when I put them together when I finish that step.

This following quilt is another UFO. It was in the same box as the quilts above. It is a quilt along that
crazy mom quilts did back in May 2010. Round and Round Quilt Along. Again it is fabric from Joann's. I had all of the fabric cut including the sashing pieces. I even had all the colored squares paired up with a white and sewn together.
Here is the center. That was the easiest part. It gets harder and harder with each round.
I love how this is looking. So spring like. It looks like colored eggs in the snow. At this point I have three more rounds to go then two rows across the top and bottom. This one is going to be a lot of work!

My PQA group that I run gives each person with a birthday a fat quarter. Here is my pile. I love each one of them. So many fun fabrics.

I was able to buy some fabric for a few projects so I will be very busy this next week. The kids are out for Spring Break all of this next week so I will have no little guy to watch so that means a lot of quality time quilting. Plus the little guys mom quilts and she is off this next week also so we are planning on two quilting days together. Here is a newer picture of him. He has grown up so much!!

Frosty Flakes BOM

Dawn over As Sweet as Cinnamon at did a small wall hanging all the way back in August 4, 2010. It was called Frosty Flakes BOM. I had just started quilting, about 2 months and I was not very sure of myself. I knew I wanted to do this quilt. It was about snowflakes!! I went to a LQS and bought my very first charm pack. 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain for Moda. LOVE THAT FABRIC!!
That is what the Fat Quarterly Designer Mystery BOM is made with.

Here are the (9) 1/2" hexies. I loved making them.

Well after having the centers made since October I thought I better finish it.
Here are a few pictures of the steps.

Here is is finished. I love it.

Things I forgot to blog about

Tonight as I was going through my blog trying to update a few things when I can across a few pictures that I had not blogged about. I thought I would take a moment and give these things a minute in the sunshine. LOL!

I made a lunch bag for my daughter back in November. I used the tutorial in Pink Penguin. I have since made two more.
For Christmas every year I make gifts for every brother and sister of my husbands family. I make one for his mom and for us as well. That it 9 hand made gifts every Christmas. I love doing it. Last year I made a stitchery. It is a part of a Primary song that my kids used to sing at church. The buttons are maroon, not pink.
For our Parma Quilters Anonymous group meeting in December we did a gift exchange. I made a Christmas Mug Rug. I loved making it.

Well have a good evening and hopeful I can start sewing tomorrow. I have missed it!

One Thing One Week Challenge

Amy's Creative Side is having another challenge week. I decided to go for it again. I said I wanted to get my Be Mine Blog Tour Valentine’s Day Table Runner by A Quilting Life done. Well it is not finished but all I need to do is finish the binding. I have been sick all day so it is ok not to be completed. Thank you Amy for giving me a little fire under my back side to finish something.
