What have I been up to...

This is Jayden, he is my nephew. He is eating his 1st birthday cupcake.

It is almost the end of the year and I feel changes coming on. I have had a very full year and I feel the need to lessen my schedule. With this little guy that I am taking care of turning into a walking toddler I need more free time to be able to take care of him the way he deserves. I can't be stressed out over to many things all month long. So as I go through these next few weeks of streamlining my quilting time I have decided to take a blogging break even though I might drop by here once or twice. I will be back after the first of the new year with a new routine. I can't wait. I am excited.

I have been trying to get a few things taken care of in my life. Swaps being the biggest. The number of swaps that I am a part of will be one of the things I cut out of my life. I have loved every minute of my swaps that I have been a part of over the last two years. The one swap that I am going to stay with is The Inchy Hexagon Swap. I do not have near enough flowers for my quilt yet, LOL!! Here are the flowers for my November partner. She asked for purple/red color flowers. I hope these work for her.

The next swap I am in is Block Swap Adventure. I have loved this swap. I have had many wonderful partners and one very rude woman that I am learning to forget. I have made many different blocks that I might not have tried on my own. This is one of the swaps I am dropping out of. I know that it is only one block a month but it is one day a month that I am focused on making something for someone else.

This block was so fun. It is for my November partner. It is so bright!

These blocks are from the same swap from my partner for November. She did not know which one to send to me so she sent me all three. I love them!!!

The next swap is Let's Bee Together. It works different then most groups. There are 12 swappers. We each take a month and send out fabric to the other 11 people. They make blocks for you and send them back that same month. I have had a great time in this group but this is another group I am not signing up with again. I have my blocks from last year that I have done nothing with and my month for this year is this month. Again I know that it is only one block a month but then with the month that I send out packages to everybody it is all the planning and cutting. I know! I sound like I am whining!

This block is for our leader. She is great for all that she has done. I can't wait to see the quilt that this block goes into.

Holiday Lane Pillow Blog Hop

Welcome to my day. I am so excited  to show off what I have made. I know that we were supposed to make a pillow but I decided to make mine into a table topper for my daughter in college. I used felt for the snow. Then for some of the decorations I used buttons. I just love buttons on these kinds of things. Can you see the small little bunny? I thought I needed to add a little whimsy. There are two pictures to help you get a close up look.

Thank you to all the people who make these hops so great. Don't forget to go see the other people who are on the list for today. Thank you for stopping by!!

Getting A Few Things Done!

I am trying to catch up. It is a bit tough since I have been overtaken by my RA. It does not like this weather, the cold and rainy. Plus after working so hard on those quilts and other projects I guess I was flying and so now I am crashing.

These flowers are for my October partner in the The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.

These two following blocks is for Block Swap Adventures.

Sorry Gone So Long, Maniac Monday

I have not posted on my blog in just over three weeks. I feel so bad but sometimes life just calls for all of my attention. We all need to have the ability to step back from our hobbies and give our families and our lives all of ourselves. That is what I have had to do. Now that I am done with the two Hope House quilts that I personally made and making sure my quilt group PQA is done with their Hope House quilts I can get back to my blog. I do not have a total yet of all of the quilts that the PQA members made on their own to donate but together we added 9 more to the list. Tonight when I dropped off the 5 I was in charge of the sweet lady that is over this quilt donation had a count of 96 quilts. There are still quilts coming in. The organization asked for 70 quilts. We will be able to give them a bunch of extras. It is so cool. Bellow are a few pictures of some of the quilts.

This quilt and the following quilt are the ones that PQA worked on together. We each made 9 blocks, a mix of girl and boy blocks. Each quilt has a matching pillowcase.

This is the boy quilt:

This is the girl quilt:

The members of PQA got together a while back and had a a cut/swap day. We each brought new or old fabric and cut the same size blocks. Then we swapped blocks and made plus sign quilts to donate. Of this pattern the group made 7 quilts with matching pillowcase. Because each of the quilts were similar I only took a picture of this quilt.

Then on top of all of that I donated two of my own. I had started out with other fabric and a harder pattern. As time counted down I let myself off the hook and just did huge 12.5 inch blocks. I love the look of these two quilts they are so cute.

Here is a boy quilt:

Here is a girl quilt:

So because I have been so busy with this huge project and other things in my life I have been very bad about doing my other quilty responsibilities  I am so sorry to all of those that I owe cute quilty things too I will be starting on those today. So here is my November list of things to get caught up on.

Just a Bunch of Stuff

Wow what a busy time I have had. I have a new calling in my church and it has kept me VERY busy. Also the quilt group I started got together today and tied 5 of the 9 quilts we made for a local home for troubled people. We have until November 11 to get them tied and bound. We will be going early December and handing them in. I can't wait to see all of the kids and adults getting quilts. How fun will that be.

I have gotten a few fun packages and have not posted anything yet. So here goes..

My September flowers for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. They are so pretty.

Then my October flowers. I love these ones also.

Everybody has wanting to see a better picture of my Tree for Feafs me happy Blog Hop.  I love this block. I had so much fun cutting out all the leaves and playing with the placement. After things get back to "normal" around here I will quilt this and make it into a wall hanging. Below is a close up.

These following blocks are for Let's Bee Together. It was a really fun way to make these blocks. She is going to square them up after we send them to her.

This block is for my partner for Block Swap Adventure. She asked for any star block in red, white, and blue. This was a fun block to make. I hope she likes it.

I hope you all have a great day. I am still working on all those wonderful comments!!

Maniac Monday

Another Monday come and gone and I am just now getting to posting. It is ok. I have a lot on my plate right now.

These are flowers that I sent off to my September partner for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. I hope that she likes them. She asked for pastels and I thought these colors looked good together.

I am part of a Quilt Along making mini quilts out of this book Simply Charming Mini's. This is the first mini we were to make. I have not finished it yet but I will soon. It is only 13" X 13" very small. I love it!!

So I am just going to jump in with the old list from September and the new list from October.

Leafs me happy Blog Hop

Hello everybody. I hope everybody has been having fun during this blog hop. I am LOVING IT!! I have been having trouble with my Internet all weekend so everything I am doing including posting right now I am doing from my iPhone. You know if one piece of technology will not work try another piece! LOL!

So here we are at the beginning of a new week. Don't forget to hop over to all of the other blogs involved today!! Here are the names:

Feathered Nest Studio
Grandmama's Stories
From This to That
Little Man Hen
Quilt Monster in my Closet
Kathy @ That Other Blog
in stitches & seams
Buzzing and Bumbling
Nunu's Quilt World~that is me!!
Quilts And Dogs
Briarside Lane

I am sorry but I am not able to add links from here, or at lease I do not know how to do it. Don't forget if you go to www.cherryblossomsquiltingstudio.comand click on her side bar you will find the schedule and links to these blogs.

I knew as soon as I saw the above picture advertising the hop I wanted to do exactly that picture with my own spin on it. I love fall and falling leaves so it is a perfect fit. I went to a LQS and found a piece of fall fabric covered in leaves. I took a piece of Heat and Bond and ironed it on the back. Then I sat and cut out individual leaves. It took a while. I freehand drew a tree trunk and ironed it to the fabric block. Then I ironed all the leaves where I wanted them. At the bottom there is a piece of the leaf fabric that I trimmed into a pile.

Here is my my 12.5 inch unfinished block. I call it "LEAF ME IN A PILE".

I wish I had time to finish the block but my son and his wife moved in this weekend. No rest for the mommy! So maybe sometime this week I will get to it.

I also have a giveaway. I have a stack of 5 inch squares made up out of my fall stash fabric. I have no picture to show you right now and it is hard to enter a give away when you have no idea what you are entering for. But you will like it and I will add a few extras. I am hoping to have my Internet up tomorrow or the next day so as soon as posting is easier for me I will post pictures. If you want to be entered into the give away post a comment telling me which piece of technology is your favorite. Is it your cell phone, tv, computer, ATM machine? For an extra entry post a second comment telling me you are a new or existing follower.

Thank you for stopping by and go play in the leaves, have some apple cider and hug a kid.
