Fun Stuff Before Christmas

I made a few gifts for my nieces and nephew. Towels with appliqued names. They turned out so cute!

MY 12 Days of Christmas swap was so fun. Here are a few pictures of the different stages of my table runner that my partner set up for me. I forgot to take a finished picture after it was quilted and washed, but I love it!!
Here are the corner pieces:
Here are the center blocks:
Here it is all sewn together with the border:

At the beginning of December my church group went to Hope House and dropped off our quilts that we had been working on for so long. Here is a picture of all the quilts in the main hall. We needed to take 68 quilts but when the final number was counted there was 126 quilts. Wow wonderful ladies!!

Sorry Gone So Long, Maniac Monday

I have not posted on my blog in just over three weeks. I feel so bad but sometimes life just calls for all of my attention. We all need to have the ability to step back from our hobbies and give our families and our lives all of ourselves. That is what I have had to do. Now that I am done with the two Hope House quilts that I personally made and making sure my quilt group PQA is done with their Hope House quilts I can get back to my blog. I do not have a total yet of all of the quilts that the PQA members made on their own to donate but together we added 9 more to the list. Tonight when I dropped off the 5 I was in charge of the sweet lady that is over this quilt donation had a count of 96 quilts. There are still quilts coming in. The organization asked for 70 quilts. We will be able to give them a bunch of extras. It is so cool. Bellow are a few pictures of some of the quilts.

This quilt and the following quilt are the ones that PQA worked on together. We each made 9 blocks, a mix of girl and boy blocks. Each quilt has a matching pillowcase.

This is the boy quilt:

This is the girl quilt:

The members of PQA got together a while back and had a a cut/swap day. We each brought new or old fabric and cut the same size blocks. Then we swapped blocks and made plus sign quilts to donate. Of this pattern the group made 7 quilts with matching pillowcase. Because each of the quilts were similar I only took a picture of this quilt.

Then on top of all of that I donated two of my own. I had started out with other fabric and a harder pattern. As time counted down I let myself off the hook and just did huge 12.5 inch blocks. I love the look of these two quilts they are so cute.

Here is a boy quilt:

Here is a girl quilt:

So because I have been so busy with this huge project and other things in my life I have been very bad about doing my other quilty responsibilities  I am so sorry to all of those that I owe cute quilty things too I will be starting on those today. So here is my November list of things to get caught up on.

Late Maniac Monday

I am a few days late with Maniac Monday but I  wanted to post anyway. I have had a good week and have gotten a few things done.

But first I wanted to thank everyone who stopped by my blog for the dots on dots Blog Hop. The turn out for me was so much greater than I could ever have hoped for. I had 80+ comments and a few people even decided they liked what I do and became followers. THANK YOU!!

This is the block I made for my September partner for Block Swap Adventure. She asked for 30's or 40's fabrics in an older style star. I love the way this block turned out.

For Parma Quilters Anonymous, a quilt group I started in my home town, we are doing a little quilt along. These are August and September blocks. I made three of the September blocks. I can't wait to put this quilt together. It will finish to look like this one.

For Saturday Sampler at my LQS this is my August stitchery. I love the ants. Someone's husband said they look like tiny cows. HA HA

I finished my September Schnibbles before the end of the month. I used a left over Halloween charm pack. This pattern is a new pattern by the creator of Schnibbles. It only uses the new "Candy" 2 1/2 inch squares Moda is coming out with. So fun!!

This is one of the two Plus Sign quilts I am making for a charity my church is giving to for Christmas. It is huge, my husband had a hard time holding the quilt and he is 6' 3"!

I also recovered my mini ironing board. This was getting bad and the insulation was showing through.
Before
After

I also made a pillow to go with my daughter's Senior quilt.

Then this morning I redid my wreathe that is hanging on my front door. I love Fall so this needed to be all orange and yellow and red. I have discovered an cool cheap trick. I used orange and red Loofah's to cover the wreathe and as a bow. Very cheep and easy to work with. I hope this helps get everybody in a festive Fall mood.

So for my list I got a few more things knocked off!

A Few Things...

I have been really busy lately. It is hard to get my DD#1 ready for college. Also we are having her big 18th birthday/college send off party tomorrow. We are doing a murder mystery, it will take about 4 hours with games, a who-dun-it? game, appetizers, dinner, and cake and ice cream. Plus a guest list over 20 adults (and all the little kids) and we are all dressing up like pirates, go check it out here. It will be a ball but it is a lot of work! Good thing 18th birthdays only come once. We did a similar thing for her big brother two years ago.

I got two more quilts cut out for the Hope House. I will be starting on these soon. They are going to be made with a block out of Quiltmakers 100 Block magazines.

The yellow one will look like this:

The red/black one will look like this:

Here is my August Schnibble. It actually got mostly sewn together. I just had to many irons in the fire and this one got put out. Darn. I will finish this one soon!

At the beginning of the month I won a book on a Blog Hop. It is Simply Charming Minis. It is such a fun book. All of the quilts are little. They are between the sizes of 13" to 21". She is going to a Mini Quilt Along. I love it!! I told myself that I would only join if I won a book so I guess I will be joining. I can't wait!

My main focus right now has been this little guy. I starting watching him in January when his mom went back to work. I watched his two big sisters before him. They are both in all day school and ride the bus home. The red spots on him are mosquito bite. Darn little bugs. He is so big and so happy. Now we have moved on to food and only one bottle a day. He still nurses a little in the evening.

One of the things that pushed the Schnibble's quilt out of the fire was this beauty. I was asked my a church member if I would put together this quilt for a woman who just lost her mom. They were working on these chicken scratchings together when she passed. I hope she loves it.

I received my August block for Block Swap Adventures. I LOVE IT!! the blue looks just like the sky.

Even my post is all over the place. I take DD#1 to college on Wednesday and I return home without her on Thursday. I will be sad. I am now. I know it is all for the good but she is one of my best friends. My other daughter being my other best friend of course. But DD#1 sews and quilts with me. Oh well, it is only three months. She will be home in December then will go back for her second semester in April to June. Crazy I know. Well have a good weekend and Labor Day. I will see you on Monday!!

Manic Monday

Today I have a bunch of pictures. I have been trying to finish up a bunch of stuff.

Here is my May Schnibbles~Doc. I love it. I used one print and three coordinating fabrics. I had most of it done in May but just could not finish it. So I finally did!

In my PQA (Parma Quilters Anonymous) group we have been working on a quilt along. This is what our finished quilt will look like. Below are the blocks I have made and then the quilt with my finished blocks "x"ed out. Just a fun way of seeing what is left.

Also in PQA all of the members are making (9) 9 patch blocks, a mixture of boy & girl blocks to make 2 twin size quilts for a local shelter for kids. Here are pictures of my boy and then girl blocks. I will show pictures of the finished quilt tops when they are completed.
I have also volunteered to make 2 of my own twin size quilts. These are the 2 variations I have so far. They are 9 patches with 4 HST mixed in.
=========================

These flowers are from my July partner for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. So cool!
These flowers are from a gal that I think messed up. I will be sending her a note to let her know.

At my LQS's Saturday Sampler we are doing these cute little stitcheries. They are to be finished into little pillows. I have not made it that far but here are the ones I have stitched so far.
