Things I forgot to blog about

Tonight as I was going through my blog trying to update a few things when I can across a few pictures that I had not blogged about. I thought I would take a moment and give these things a minute in the sunshine. LOL!

I made a lunch bag for my daughter back in November. I used the tutorial in Pink Penguin. I have since made two more.
For Christmas every year I make gifts for every brother and sister of my husbands family. I make one for his mom and for us as well. That it 9 hand made gifts every Christmas. I love doing it. Last year I made a stitchery. It is a part of a Primary song that my kids used to sing at church. The buttons are maroon, not pink.
For our Parma Quilters Anonymous group meeting in December we did a gift exchange. I made a Christmas Mug Rug. I loved making it.

Well have a good evening and hopeful I can start sewing tomorrow. I have missed it!

Letting myself off the hook!

Well since the first of November I have been sick all of that time but two weeks. In November it was an abscessed tonsil. The I was better after being on antibiotics. After that off and on small colds. The day after Christmas I got sick again, bronchitis this time. I could not get my Remicade because I was sick. This time I decided to not go to the doctor. I had gotten better and and had no cough for about  3-4 days. Monday I woke up sick again. Coughing, fevers. Man oh Man!! Well Tuesday I went into the doctor. They did and Xray and I do not have pneumonia. He put me on a big dose antibiotic. Now I am just going to let myself off the hook. I wanted to get my Le Petite for January finished and maybe even my December one finished as well but it is just not going to happen. I have been sick more this month than I have been well. So I am going to stop thanking about it. I will be back on as soon as I start feeling better. Right now I am finding it hard to breathe. LOL!! Thank you everybody! Oh and here are few more pictures of the the quilt show.

Well here I am trying again. I want to make the Modern Valentine Table Runner by A Quilting Life. I have a coffee table that needs some love. LOL! I will have until Monday next week to finish it. I have some pink fabric that I can use. It is nothing special but I like it.

So I love posts with pictures here are a few. My daughters and I went to a local quilt show. It was our first show. I LOVED IT!! My daughter that quilts had a great time and the one that does not quilt said she wanted to start quilting. LOL! I had to laugh, you see she hates going into JoAnn's. Here are a few quilts we saw. I will so more pictures later.
I took a close up picture.
This quilt was made over 150 years ago. my daughters and I counted the yo-yo's. There was 3,120. There is no backing, just the yo-yo's. It was fun to look at all the different fabrics. I loved it!!

This second one was crossstitched. It is a family tree.

100 Block Magazine Win

You know what they say about plans. Life is what happens when you are making plans. Well that is what happened when I made plans to post about all of my wins from last year. Life, you know Christmas, New Years, school starting up, buying groceries, lol, life! Here is my win from November 12, 2010. I won a copy of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks vol. 2.

I love this magazine. Everything from simple to hard blocks. Blocks with applique and/or stitchery. Multi-colored or two-toned. Coloring with crayons to selvages. Such a cool resource on how to make so many blocks. I would like to get my hands on the 1st volume. Maybe someday, LOL!!

This & That win

Back in November over at Pink Pincushion and A Quilting Life we had the pleasure of making the Butter Churn by This and That for our Le Petite. After the parade at the beginning of December they had a drawing. I won!! I won 8 patterns from This & That. Well after a mess up with my email, a 45 minute phone call to my email company and a download of 900 messages that had been blocked, I finally received the emails that had let me know that I had won. I was able to get things straightened out. I received these 8 patterns. They are so great.

I hope that you all had a great day!

2010

First year as a REAL quilter. I had been sewing up to this point in June of 2010 off and on for 20 years. First it was dresses for me, hated them, then skirts for me, hated them, and then I stopped. I would do curtains once in a while but never really did much more than that. When my daughters turned around 5 or 6 I started making nightgowns, no zippers!! Then I loved on to shorts, PJ bottoms, and a few summer tops. Back to the zippers I went and started making church dresses for them. I loved that. But that stopped other than the PJ bottoms until June of 2010. The kids were out of school and I was looking for something more to do than playing on the computer all summer long. A friend and I started talking about how much we both loved sewing. She mentioned blog. I had hear of them and read a few that were about scrapbooking and paper crafts but that wasn't where my heart was. So I gave it another try with the blogs and I was hooked! I found that there were a lot of other crazy lovable people out there that shared my passion. FABRIC!!!I was in Heaven. I started sewing, collecting fabrics and patterns, doing all the wild things I found in the blogs. At first I was just going to sit back and read them but in July I decided I wanted a blog of my own. Now here I am 6 months later with 26 followers and almost 75 posts. I can't believe it. I am hoping to post all of the things I did into this page 2010. I don't know how long I can keep up sewing, blogging, and posting but I am going to try!

Charming Girls' Quilt Club Theme for Jan/Feb

I love this idea. Thank of a word that reflects what you want this year to be like. A word that can sum up everything you are striving for. Like a long term goal in one word. Mine would be:
I want to enjoy everything. My husband, my kids, my life. I want to find a way to enjoy when things are going great and when thing start to go bad. On a cold yucky day I want to find a way to enjoy it. Now I am off to enjoy the rest of my day cough and all.

A Sewing Poem

When threading up to start to sew,
Don't do it with the foot down low.
Raise that foot and keep it high,
'til the thread is thru the needles eye.
This keeps the tension open wide,
And lets the thread drop down inside.
Do like this and you will be,
A happy sewer, wait and see.

This is a poem I got at my local sewing repair shop. Johnsons Sewing Center. I love it and I thought I would share. I hope that you enjoy it also.
