Tetris Quilt Along Week #5

Well another wonderful block. I am so happy with the way this has turned out! One more week and then it will become a quilt top. Today I made my block #5 and then I sewed blocks 4 and 5 together. I decided not to use the whites that came in our Tetris Charm Swap. Most of them had color on them and I wanted white on white. I cut some blocks from my stash and added them into my kit for this project. 

 Andee over at The Modern Diary posted a picture that I new I needed to have. Back in December we where Santa Sack Swap2 partners. I made her a sewing machine cover. She says then when she takes it off her machine her doggie Bug likes to sleep on it. For me that is an honor. I have pets and I am a total animal lover. So for Bug to feel that the cover is worthy of a nap that makes me feel so good. Sleep on little doggie sleep on!!!

I thought I would add a photo of the sunsets we have been having. Around were we live we have been having big forest fires and our air is filled with smoke. So when the sun is setting there is an amazing red, orange, yellow glow. So sad and pretty at the same time.

OPAM finishes for December

I thought it would be easier to add all of my finishes in one post. I have a long list.

A practice wallet. I am using it to hold my snaps and my snap tool. So fun!

Santa Sack Swap2~Gifts from Andee

Here are my gifts from Andee. Can I say how much I LOVE THEM!!! I am so excited to use them. I can't wait to start a few new things.

(I had two swaps to open so if any of these gifts did not come from you or I am missing something in this post Andee I am sorry)

A huge wonderful pincushion. A tissue holder to match my bag that she made. A Schnibbles pattern~George. A fun little notebook. I love notebooks!

Look at this pattern. And it came with precut papers. They are 1/2 inch hexeis. I have added a quarter for comparison. They are so cute!

5 fat quarters of Punctuation. I love the colors, PERFECT!!

3 fat quarters of fun fabric.

This is a bad picture of these 4 fat quarters. The colors are so soft and pretty. I love them.

Tow hand made by Andee dishrags. I am not sure that I can use them for that. A fun deck of cards.

If you like a mild pumpkin pie taste without the calories try these suckers. SO GOOD! She sent me 4 of them. They were so good!!

This is the coolest thing. My husband is a mechanic and he thought this was for him, LOL!! The magnet is so strong. I just toss in my needles and the magnet sucks them down. It is so fun.

Thank you Andee for all of the cool gifts. I love them. This swap has been fun and I can't wait to do it again.

Santa Sack Swap2~Gifties to Andee

I thought that now that Christmas is over that I would post the gifts that I have worked on over the last 4 months for my partner. I loved each item. It was hard to send them to her. LOL!

For the month of September:

This is the bag I made for her to put them in. It was not large enough. LOL! I should have made a grocery sack size. I will know better next time.

This is a thread catcher. I had a pattern from a LQS but I found this tutorial at The Stitching Room.

This is a thread/needle/stuff holder. I made myself one and then gave that away as a gift as well. LOL! I used a tutorial Laura posted on Sew We Quilt back in September.  

 Here they are together.

 For the month of October:

I cool note block from Joann's. I feel that you can never have enough notes

 I bought her 4-1/2 yard cuts of Homespun. She does a lot of Bonnie Hunter quilts and I hoped that this would add to her stash. I know now that I should have bought shirtings instead but I hope these work anyway.

For the month of November:

A fun Dresden pincushion. I used a tutorial from Molly Flanders. I love this pincushion.

 Then 6-fat quarters of DS Newer line. (Then she came out with another line) I hope this is a good selection for her.

For the month of December:

I found this tutorial at V and Co. for this Comp Book cover and I loved it. It is a little small for the book but it turned out great for the rest of it.

 A few more little notebooks from Joann's. These ones are so small and cute. Around on the back side are some sewing machine needles and stick pins.

 Then to top all of it off I made a sewing machine covers. I hope that it will fits her machine. Not knowing what size it is I am hoping they are all about the same size. I used and tutorial from The Mode Bake Shop. I changed it a bit to fit a machine that does not have an extension.

Well Andee I hope you like your gifts. I sure did love making them for you. I enjoyed getting to know you. I hope your next year is a good one. 

Maniac Monday #9

I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving Holiday. We had a great time. Three turkey dinners and a wonderful smoked turkey noodle soup I made for my family. We played games, talked, took pictures, ate just enough, had pie for breakfast, slept in, stayed up late, watched movies. It was a fun time. Now back to the daily grind.

I took last week off from blogging and even thinking about my blog. I kept up on some reading but I am a few days behind. I hope I have not missed to much. I did get a few things done but on Friday my machine got moved and has not been put back together.

I am going to keep my list from two weeks ago pretty much the same. I have a few days to finish two of my biggest goals so that will be all I am working on until Thursday.

1. Do my flowers for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.~Done

2. Make/buy gifties X 3 for my Santa Sack Swap2 partner.

I have made one giftie. Of course no pictures, LOL! I will be working on the other two over the next few days.

3. Make/buy gifties X 12 plus white elephant gift for Parma Quilters Anonymous gift exchange.

I have one gift made and I am working on a few others. I have ideas for the others. Now I just need to finish this as well over the next few days.

4. Rip/cut sheets into fat quarters.

I have not done this one yet.

5. Finish wall hanging for Jayden.

Little guy is coming today so I need to finish this. Hopefully he will be home by Tuesday evening if everything goes well.

6. Make matching receiving blankets and burp cloths.

Same as above!

After I finish all of this then it is time to to think about Christmas gifts. Thankfully I have trimmed the list down to just about nothing. It will be just a bunch of small things.

The Traveling Stash box I sent to Jessica has been received and now she is having her give away, go check it out at Quilty Habit Traveling Stash Give Away.

Maniac Monday #7 on Monday :)

I did get a few things done this last week. This colder weather is harder on me and sometimes I just can't get this chair off my dumb long enough to do any sewing. I am feeling better. The time change was not a good thing for Chomper, he was up at 5:30 am. Ok that is WAY to early!!

Here is my list from last week...

1. Finish a gift for a friend.
Done~I can't show you a picture until after Christmas but here are the packages I mailed off this morning.

2. Canton Village BOM block 1 and 2.

Well kinda...I made the first block, but I don't like it. I decided to you a layer cake of Fandango that I have been holding onto. I used a lighter pattern fabric from the collection for the background but I did not have enough. Then when I started on the second block I realized doing it this way was not going to work. I went and bought some Kona Khaki to use a background in all of the blocks. I will have to unpick block one and resew it. Here are a few pictures of my adventures with this today.

3. Birdie Stitches for October.

Done~I loved this block. I love this time of the year so I was so glad to see pumpkins!

4. Designer Mystery BOM for October.

I did not get to it. Did not even get it out of the package.

5. Binding on Jayden's wall hanging.

Looked at it long enough to move it, LOL!!

Next weeks list...

1. Fix the 1st Canton Village BOM block and make block 2.

2. Make Designer Mystery BOM block for October.

3. Make my block for my November partner for Block Swap Adventure.

4. Make my two flowers for The Inchy Hexagon Swap partner for November.

 5. Make my November block for Let's Bee Together.

6. Finish my November block for Birdie Stitches.

I know that I listed 6 things but I am almost done with #6. #1 is just some ripping, cutting, and resewing. I hope your week's goals are achievable.

Gifts, Flowers, and Blocks

I received my gifts from Andee for Santa Sack Swap2. I did give them a squeeze and so did my daughters, LOL! This is so fun. I can't wait to open them.

 Here are my gifts that I am sending her. I know there is three but the third one is so little.

 For October The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap I had a nice gal in Australia. She asked for red, white, and pink in any combo. I thank these flowers look good together.

What is Happening...

I had a good weekend. I hope you all did. I went out with my husband Saturday night to bale some hay. It is fun going out with him in a tractor. It makes him feel good to be able to share that part of his life with me. I picked up Subway on the way out and we ate while driving in a field. Oh the life of a farmer. He is really the mechanic but sometimes he gets to drive the equipment he works on, LOL!

I received my Block Swap Adventure block for September. I love it. So fun to look at!! Thank you Linda B.

I am starting to receive my blocks back from the ladies I sent my fabric to for Let's Bee Together.

I am finally getting around to posting my bag and first two gifts from Andee for Santa Sack Swap2. She made me a bag out of cool '30s fabric. I could not help but squeeze the bags a little. I will not open them until Christmas Day!!

What I Accomplished...

I have finished my Birdie Stitches for July. I love this one. I like the fireworks!

I even finished my Birdie Stitches BOM for August over the week end. I love sunflowers. How sweet.

Here is block #4 for Celebrating Christmas Quilt Along. Lots of hand stitching. What do you think, does it look like a Christmas block? I think I have backed myself into a corner by deciding that I only want to use '30s fabric. Well I can just tell myself that it is a "country Christmas" LOL!!

I feel bad. I decided to follow along with Mug Rug Madness. But I have not. Well after this month is over I will go back and make some mug rugs for Christmas. It will be fun.
