HELP!!!

I got all the hand binding done on my H2H quilt. I love it. But then I washed it now look...I am just sick!!

I am such a dork. I should have thought those colors would bleed. I used three color catchers. Luckily I had not dried it yet. But I think my undoing was that I put it in the washer then went to bed. So I have put the quilt back into the wash with about 7 color catchers but if you have any advice that would be great!! My other quilt turned out perfect!!

  1. Oh no, that is the worse thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so sorry that happened.

I have had a few problems in the past and used Resolve Upholstery cleaner with success. It is not a laundry stain remover, but more like a carpet cleaner. It comes in a non-aerosol red spray bottle and has a few warnings on the back, something like don't use on Type 2 fabrics. I was desperate and just used it anyway when I had colors bleed. I sprayed the fabric with it, scrubbed a ton with a toothbrush, and then washed it. I did it twice and you couldn't tell the colors had bled anymore. I did wash in conjunction with the Shout Color catcher that has Oxyclean powder in it, so that may have helped too.

    Good luck!

  2. Oh no!! I don't have any suggestions, but will keep my fingers crossed that the second washing helps. :-(

  3. Oh no. I hope that the second washing does it. My H2H quilt is all washed and ready to photograph. I need to get linking before tomorrow. Hope your quilt gets better.

  4. try a soap dyers use called Synthrapol...it removes the 'excess' dye from the fabric and neutralizes it chemical bonding power so as not to satin lighter fabrics. the coolest thing is a queen quilt will only need a tablespoon or two in the wash...

i use it and have had good results... it smells like when you iron batiks

also, if you can, fill your washer all the way with water so the quilt isn't 'cramped'..some of my larger quilts get to take a trip to the laundromat and wash in the double and triple loaders...

good luck!! i feel your pain- i had a batik quilt bleed all over the backer...but another wash with Synthrapol seemed to do the trick

  5. Oh no! It's really bad I think the stuff of your quilt is not good or may be color which you use on your quilts.
