Time for the Traveling Stash Give Away!!

This give away is not closed. I will post the winner in the morning!

I have had so much fun with the Traveling Stash. I have had it about 5 or 6 days. I have touched every piece maybe even more than once. I am not going to show pictures of the items. I feel it needs to be a surprise. I can say that I crammed it back into a Large Flat Rate box but just barely. Look at the box I received from Sarah. HUGE!! I loved it.

It stood at 11 1/2 inches!! I just can't pay that kind of shipping so I had to shrink it down. Don't worry it is still very stuffed with great things!

It was filled with so many goodies. I had a hard time picking out of it what I wanted. BUT I snatched those apple cores the second I saw them. Thank you Sarah for putting them in there. I can't wait for a chance to make a quilt out of them. I already have my layout planned. I am so excited.

I am not going to do Maniac Monday today I will do it tomorrow.

Here are the rules for the Traveling Stash:

1. You have to be an active blogger.
2. After you take what you want from the Stash, you must promise to pass it on promptly, after
adding back in comparable items in comparable amounts to what you removed. Please use
good quilt shop quality fabric, and put in things you would want to receive yourself!
(The Golden Rule is a good guide for the Traveling Stash!)
3. Sorry but this giveaway is only open to residents of the US.

Now for the give away:
I would love for you to be a follower but you do not have to be.
Get two chances to win:
1. Leave a comment. Please tell me something that your family does for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Please don't tell you you eat a big meal we ALL do. But tell me something that you family does for those holidays that makes it special.
2. Please post about the give away. The more people that knows about this the funner it becomes. Please leave a second comment telling my you have done this with a link back to that post, not your whole blog but that post. I will be checking. :) (only because I want to see what you are up to)

That is it. I will leave this give away open until November 17th. That is three days from now. No need to keep it open any longer. I will post Friday morning with the winner and get the box shipped off to you that afternoon.

Just for fun here is a picture of Chomper. He is so silly!

  2. A follower. Christmas tradition for all family - even passed into new households/extended family - christmas stockings always get an orange in the toe 'first' - represents settlers/depression/war times - money scarce, but a precious bit of fruit was a treasure at the holiday.

  3. I'm a follower. Thanksgiving is a day where all the kids (12, 20, 23) actually like to hang out with us. We chat in the kitchen, snack, watch movies, play video games, and wash way too many dishes.

  4. I am a regular follower! Our tradition is very similar to Sharon's. We always put a tangerine in the toe of our Christmas stockings. One year we forgot to remove one from a stocking and, needless to say, the stocking had a rather fuzzy toe.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway. I would love the opportunity to pass the Traveling Stash along.

  6. I'm now a follower and would Love to win the stash!! My family has a very strange but fun tradition that began about 20 yrs.ago. Thanksgiving is the one time in the whole year that my sisters and theri family come to my house since we all live far away from each other. Our mother passed away in 2003 but this was her favorite time to see "her girls". Clipping is the Game and here are the rules; The kids are given a bag of clothespins and it is their goal to clip as many clothespins on someone else without their knowledge. You can't tell others they have been clipped! If you catch the other person, the clip is yours to keep. We have been known to "clip" people as they step out of a crowded elevator! Oh yes, the game continues the entire weekend wherever we go. I've gone to sit down and feel pain as I sit on about 20 clothespins on the tail of my shirt! We even pinned Santa one year! The tradition calls for each person to have the best pin of the year such as one family bride was clipped on her bridal veil, one cousin clipped her teacher as she stood at the blackboard, one father who was a minister had his clergical gowns clipped during a sermon!, one person was clipped during a community theater performance, etc... The entire weekend is spent looking for that perfect moment when the adults are talking, not paying attention, and before you know it, adults are walking around with clothespins hanging from every part of their clothing totally oblivious to their plight. It's very funny when family members have to make a store run or attend some function over the weekend and forget to check for clips. No one breaks the rule of telling the others they have been clipped...Code of Silence is kept in strict confidence. Over the years, the tradition has grown and all kids and any adult who wishes to participate may join in the fun. One year, my sister was very proud that she had not been clipped all weekend and when she left she made sure to check for pins on all her clothing. Until she got to her first gas station stop on the trip back home only to find her muffler and antenna had been clipped!!! She called laughing so hard and we all yelled, "Gotcha". It's a strange tradition but one that is anxiously anticipated by all my grandchildren each year!
I'll share about your Stash box
    Blessings

  7. yay- you won!

one fun thing that we did for christmas was that santa came every day about 5 days early.

Apparently Santa knew that us 4 kids would be trying to play with the presents under the tree.

every morning we had a small little package in our stocking- could be an activity book, hair bows, etc...

the morning of Christmas we would have a chocolate letter in our stocking

  11. One of our traditions is for Christmas, everyone signs their own names on all the Christmas cards that get sent out. When we had 5 other foster kids living here, they all signed too, I started getting lots of mail after that wondering how our family grew so quickly, and the names kept changing year after year.

  14. Something that we do for Thanksgiving is that no matter what the weather my husband and I (and now our 4-year old son) take a little drive to a remote spot and take a hike in the morning.

  16. A traveling stash? What a fun idea. I would love to take part.

A Christmas Eve tradition at our house is a fondue followed by a visit from Santa. He gives everyone in the house a bag of peanuts and candy. The kids follow Aunt Jennifer outside and throw peanuts on the roof for Santa's reindeer.

  17. This is too cool, I love the concept! The weekend of Thanksgiving we go to a local tree farm and select and tag our Christmas tree; the weekend before Christmas we all go back and cut it down and bring it home. Tromping around the field debating the highpoints and flaws of each tree is lots of fun. So the tree is a family two-fer, or really a three-fer since we decorate it together as well!

  18. I follow, I'm an active blogger and I promise to put in good quality stuff (AND I live in the US) :)! My family watches "the Muppet Christmas Carol" movie every Christmas eve, complete with cookies and milk, of course! I can't wait to spent time with them!

  19. I'm a follower! Every year for Christmas, I would get my daughter one of those "talking" stuffed animals - you know, the ones that you press the paw and it sings a silly song? It would be by her bed when she woke up each Christmas morning. And it would have a note from Santa, who makes his A's shaped like stars! Now I try to find a really silly talking stuffed animal for my granddaughter, just to annoy my daughter!

  21. For my children at Christmas, when they were growing up, I would buy them apples, bananas, oranges, and mini muffins for their stockings, so they could spend the morning until the big dinner enjoying their gifts they were able to unwrap. This year, however, will be a bit different since they are both away at college now.

I've never heard of a traveling stash, what a wonderful idea! Thank you!

  23. I love the idea of a traveling stash...at Christmas we all play the who, where and doing what game....it is such a hoot and we all have so much fun....you have three slips of paper the first is the who as in who you are with, the second slip is where you are at and the third slip is what you are doing with that person....it can read like this....I am with the Easter bunny in a tree blowing bubbles!lol...it is so fun as you never know what you are going to be up to or with who....we have been playing this for years.....

  24. At Thanksgiving I wanted a way for everyone to express what they were thankful for, but also didn't make people uncomfortable by having to stand up in a full room and announce it one at a time so one year I set up a table with little cards and pens. Each person who arrived wrote down what they were thankful for and taped it on the door trim near the dining room. That way everyone, even the shy ones, could share what they were thankful for. We have done it the past few years and I save the cards and bring them out each year and put them on display. It is fun to see what people write from year to year.
