Old Fort Boise Days Quilt Show

I wanted to show a few of my favorite quilts from our Old Fort Boise Days Quilt Show.

The first three quilts were apart of our older quilt section.

Friendship Quilt, not sure of year

This quilt was made from old clothing and real wool straight off the sheep. It was made in 1929.

I hand pieced Cathedral Window quilt, not sure of the year.

A graduation quilt made by my sister-in-law for our nephew.

A Halloween Jar quilt made by my friend.

A jean quilt for another graduation. The woman that brought this one showed 4 more very large quilts like this one.

Not much information on this quilt, I just love the pattern and fabric.

This one was made by my friend.

Another one made by a friend.

Another one made by a friend for her daughter.

Busy, Busy, Busy

So, I have been very busy. This last weekend, we had our small community's Old Fort Boise Days. For the last few years my quilt group has put on a quilt show during this time. Our first year was wonderful. We were near the festivities and had a lot of visitors. Last year we moved to a bigger building, but then we lost some of our visitors. This year we lost even more. I am not sure what we are going to be doing next year, but we need to find a way to get more people to come to us. I thought I would show you a small peak at two of the quilts that were at the show.

This first one is mine. It was a wedding gift from my husbands grandmother. We have had it for 26 years. We have worn it out.

This one was made in 1955. The LDS church in my town, made this quilt to be raffled off to raise money to build a new church building. On this quilt, all of the names of the church members are embroidered as leaves on this tree. It is a wonderful piece of history.

One of the other things I have been up to, is delivering Groomers to customers. My husband has been making Arena Groomers for Premier Equestrian for about 4 years, he is in a business with his brother. This picture is of my husband (the tall one), his costumer, and groomer, a new invention, a Premier Equestrian Pro Arena Groomer. This is the website for the other groomers my husband makes. He is so happy that this groomer has been making so many people happy.

This is some of the country we got to see on our way to drop off the new groomer. He had about a 4 hour drive. I love going on these trip with my husband. Good conversation, great scenery, and I get to work on my hexies!!

I know life is crazy for everybody, mine is not different. I really need to come back to blogging! I miss this way of sharing one of the best parts of my life.

H2H Final Link Up

Hello everybody. I AM trying to get my time back to working for me instead of me working for my time. I have been able to finish my quilts that I have promised for the H2H Challenge this year. Funny thing is, I just finished them. HA HA I will be back on again later this week to chat more about them. For now, I am trying to meet up to the link party and then head off to camping tomorrow.

A Sea of Flowers

Over the last eight months of being absent I have still been busy working on my hexies for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. I make a pair of hexie flowers for my partner and I receive a pair of flowers every month. I have even started to sew the flowers together. I made a little collage showing some of my work.

Cutting Trees

I am still working on cutting time out of my week for sewing. After my finals this week I will be able to focus on babysitting and sewing. I am so excited!! But until then we were busy cutting trees. Three small trees, one medium trees, and two very large trees. Our property borders on one side with another property. This neighbor has two small children. They are getting ready to put up a fence on the border of our two places. We had three trees that sit on that border. After speaking to the neighbor, we came tot he conclusion that we need to cut our tress anyway, and we wanted to get it done before the fence was put up. That meant we had to do it soon. So over the weekend, we remove six trees, stacked wood, and cleaned all of the debris. It took nine people on Saturday to fall all six trees and to start cleaning the mess, and eight people today to finish cleaning to get it all done. It was so much work. I am glad it is done now. No more fear of trees falling on the house or the new fence. I am hoping ot be back this time next week having finally time to sit and my sewing machine.

The very old Cherry Tree on the ground. One of the small trees already stacked.

The "lumberjack" that cut down all the trees. He is my uncle.

Most of the logs left after it is all cleaned up. There is a lot of main big trunk behind the piles. If you look over on the far left, there is a very large pile of the small limbs and sticks. The part you can see here is only about one third of the total piles.

H2H Time Again!!

It is that wonderful time of the year. Time to give to others our love of quilt making. I am excited to be a part of this again. I have been a part of this wonderful event every year and this happened at the best time possible. Hands2Help, or H2H, is a Charity quilt Challenge, were a bunch of people make quilts for charities that have been picked for that year. This year there are three to choose from. You can make as many quilts as you want and donate to any combination of charities.

I have a few quilts fro last year that I was making and then decided to go with a different idea. So this year I got them out of the UFO pile and have made good headway on them. The are not large quilts, but I am hoping they will make someone happy.

I will be donating these three quilts. The top and bottom quilt tops are done, the center quilt is almost halfway done. I love all of the fun colors and patterns. If I find the time, I might even be able to make another one.

So hop on over to Sarah's blog, Confessions of a Fabric Addict, and see if you can help out.

A Long Time Gone

Hello everybody!! To those of you who have stuck around, thank you so much!! To those of you who lest, I don't blame you. My live has been a little crazy for quite a long time now. August of 2014 I went back to school. I enrolled in the Pathway Program. It is a faith bases education, a chance to go college and get a degree. I did not have this opportunity when I was younger, so when this came up and jumped on the chance. Now I have matriculated to become an online student at BYU-Idaho. At this point I have 5 semesters under my belt. I love it. The homework takes up a lot of my time, but I enjoy the studying and using my brain. Somethings have changed in my life recently that have me doing a lot of introspection. I feel a little lost and I have figured out why. Other than doing school work, I have been babysitting my niece and now my two sweet Granddaughters. That takes up a lot of my time. So right now my life revolves around my church calling, my babysitting, and school work. Hello!! Where is my sewing, where is my "ME" time, where is my blog!! So I vow right here and now to put back the joy into my life. The joy that is my blog and my quilting. I need this time to make me feel better. I still run my quilt group, PQA, but even that seems more like a heartbreak and a chore. It is because I have lost the joy in it. So for 2016 my word is:

Show and Tell Challenge Finish

A few weeks ago, Jo and Kelly at Jo's Country Junction, had a challenge to finish a Bonnie Hunter quilt they wanted to show at their quilt retreat. They meet their goal. Their quilt is beautiful. I missed my goal date, but I did not stop. I finished it. It is quilted, washed, and labeled. I love it. It is a great quilt. I am glad I did this quilt. It has a million pieces. It took forever. Each step drove me crazy. But, I am glad she is going on my stack of quilts and staying here with me.

I named her "Sunny Garden". I love all the yellow, it is so sunny!! My daughter did the binding. She spent the better part of three days hand sewing the binding down. I am glad she had a part to play in this quilt. I am going to send a link to this post to Jo and Kelly, and to Bonnie Hunter, so they can see that I finished this quilt. HA HA.

Show and Tell Challenge

Over at Jo's Country Junction, Jo and Kelly are having a short challenge, Show and Tell Challenge, based on their need to get some Bonnie Hunter quilts done before their retreat. Those of us that have an unfinished Bonnie Hunter quilt are encouraging each other to finish or move further along those quilts. I have only one so it was an easy decision for me. I have been working on Double Delight for a while. I liked up last week with my sandwiched but unfinished quilted quilt. I have now finished all of the quilting.

This first picture shows the quilting I already done. I had quilted straight lines through all of the nine patches.

I wanted to do something in the bigger blocks. This is what I came up with, but after two blocks I did not like it so I stopped. When I got the quilt out again, I decided I liked it and just went with my original idea. It is not perfect. The lines are wavy and none of the flowers look the same, but that is what I like about it. I need to stretch my quilting wings and this is the way to do it.

Here is the quilt under my machine. I just love being able to do this at home.

Then I decided I needed something in the big triangles. I wanted something simple. I love how this turned out.

Now I am off to trim up the edges, make and sew on a binding, then a label. After all that, a turn in the washer and dryer. I will be so excited to have this quilt done. Thank you Jo and Kelly!!

Oh one more thing, these were my quilting buddies. Buster the dog and Alfie the "broken" cat. How can she sleep like that? Just to mention about keeping it real, look at the floor.

Because we are talking about Bonnie Hunter, don't forget her Leader & Ender Challenge 2015, this year, Tumblers.

I have joined in with this and have quite a few done. I am using a stack of 5" rainbow charms. I love it. I am not sure on the layout yet. You can see in each of the three pictures I moved the bottom row over just a little bit each time. So for know I am just sewing them together in color order. It is not that hard to unpick a seam.
