On the Road to Spring

Another of my UFO's that has become a quilt top is my On the Road to Spring. It started out as the Designer Mystery Block of the Month through Fat Quarter Shop. I loved the fabric, but did not want to make another sampler quilt. I have decided over the years that I do not what to make sampler quilts. I love repetition and order. I love also balance and equality in my quilts. Scrappy is very hard for me, but I am loving the process and the look of those kinds of quilts. Anyway, after I decided I did not want another sampler quilt, I just collected the fabric. One day while I was reading different posts, I came across this pattern. I loved the quilt! I decided I wanted to make this quilt and I knew just what fabric I wanted to use. So, I got busy cutting up the fabric and started sewing.

I made a small and large quilt. I will be using the small one as a baby quilt and I am not sure yet what will happen to the large one.

One day I will get these out and quilt them. I am so excited to get old UFO's finished. How are you doing on your UFO list?

On the Road to Spring

I am trying to get a few thing fixed in all of my records: quilty-things I have finished, quilty-things that need to move to the next step, and quilty-things I want to start. I have a few things I feel need to get done this year, and this is the best place for me to keep it all straight.

Back in 2012, I started the Fat Quarter Shop's Designer Mystery Block Swap.
I made one block and stopped.
Then I started cutting it all up into different usable sizes and sewing them together.
I used On the Road to Spring Quilt Along to make my own quilt with the fabric I had bought.
I loved it!!
I ended up with a smallish quilt,
and a very nice lap size quilt.
I hope to get these two quilts finish. I will only count them as one finish.

What I Have Been Working On

These days with going back to school I don't get much time to sew but I am working on that. A while back we had a Sew-In with PQA, my quilt group. I was able to work on this beauty for a while. I just love these colors. It is an older line of Bonnie and Camille's, Vintage Modern. I am doing  the On The Road To Spring Quilt Along. This is about a third of the quilt. I will have to pick apart a few pieces, because when I worked on it last time, I just started sewing things together. If I just leave it as it is, the quilt will be long and narrow. I need to make it a little wider.

I also have been working on the blocks for Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along by Lori Holt of Bee In My Bonnet blog. I have not had a lot of time to work on it, but when I do I make both sizes. The 12" and 6" finished blocks. I have jumped to the first few blocks that I made to the newest blocks. That way I don't feel like I am getting left behind.

 Week 1, Apronstrings

Week 2, block #1, Autumn Star

Week 9, block #1, Feed and Seed

Week 10, block #1, Gingham
 I will be back soon!!

Maniac Monday 1~ 2014

So I have finally made it back into my sewing room. It has taken a while. My health has been a little better. I am fighting a new cold now. I had more blood work done on Friday and I will know soon what the next step will be. If my liver functions are better, then I will not have to have a liver biopsy and I might be able to start up some RA medication. Oh yeah I forgot. I am off all my RA meds and it is killing me!! I hurt so bad. This too shall pass. So if my liver functions are still bad then no RA meds and we will do the biopsy to see what is going on.
I have been working on a few things. On Wednesday I posted that I was working on one of my UFO's. It is part of my 2014 Plans~15 for '14. I had decided I was not putting myself under any pressure to make them finished projects, but at least to get them to the next stage. We'll I have a completed top now of my Birdie Stitches by Little Miss Shabby.
I also made a cute little thread catcher.
Then while I was in the sewing room and had done a good job at moving a UFO to the next step I took out a UFO that was not on my list. I had saved all the fabric from my 2012 Designer Mystery BOM. I had been cutting it up to make a different quilt then the one the fabric was ment for. I found this very cute quilt called On The Road To Spring by I Have To Say. So I finished cutting all the pieces and spent the afternoon mindlessly chain stitching. I am not sure when I will get back to it but at least this moved a little too!
I hope everybody is doing ok with the crazy weather the country is having. Last weekend we had 5 inches of snow on the ground. No it has all melted off and has rained so much there is talk of flooding. CRAZY!!
