Owyhee Dam Again and a Block Finish

What is happening...
We had a great weekend. We took the family and DH brother and his family up to see the Owyhee Damn. Much nicer weather this time. We stayed for about 4 hours and had a picnic. It was great.

This morning the girls and I spent time outside doing yard work. It felt good but I had to take a 1 1/2 nap this afternoon. Now we have had a storm come through and it is going to be like this all week.
What I accomplished...
I have gotten my Let's Bee Together block. I love these fabrics. They are Morningstar by Linda Hohag of Brandywine.

Sewing thought...
How many swap/block commitments do you have in a month? Right now I have 7. One border swap. Two block swaps. One hexie swap. One small project assignment. Two BOM's and one of them is a stitchery block. Starting in August I will have two or three more BOM's that I will be working on over the next year from my LQS. Plus I have two charity quilts to make. I love this amount. It is just enough to keep me busy but not enough to make me feel overwhelmed. How about you, what is your limit.
Sewing Goals...
I am just going to work on the goals I set last week. I got the one block done now I need to make the other one. Also back to those Christmas table runners. Have a great evening.

  1. I have just one block swap (Aussie 6.5"), Santa Sack, Season swap, take part in the Quilting Gallery swaps (every 3-4 mos.), and have done a few on-line quilt alongs. I have a lot of UFO's to finish from over-extending last year, so cut my list down. Oh and just one person left on my Pay It Forward to send to and that goes out soon.

  3. I don't have any swaps now, but I did a 3" block swap with a group of 6 girls for about 3 years. Every 6 months we made 36 blocks. They are still in a baggie. Now I'm in a round robin. We switch every 1 1/2 to 2 months. That ends in November. I enjoyed the swap and like the round robin, but I really hope that somebody talks me out of this at the end. I also tend to sign up for everything on the blogs, pillowcases, Quilts of Valor, charity quilts for Project Linus, one flower Wednesday.... But I think most time its fun that we are in so much. Your photos of the dam are beautiful.

  4. That's a pretty block you made. I just joined my first block swap this month. It's kind of scary making a block for someone else, but I hope she likes it! I chose the block from the ones she suggested and I've picked out fabrics, but I haven't cut the parts yet. I have 3 little girls home all day all age 5 and under--and no one naps anymore but the 6 month old, so I'm quite busy!!! I wish my kids would sleep more so I could sew more, but at least one of them is up when I am:)
